"I think this group is very interesting. It's a group with a lot of pride. I feel very honored that I got to be on the Heroes tribe. I'm very proud to be an Olympian. I'll always be an Olympian," Katrina said following her ouster.
"I think I was a little too eager getting into the game. There were very few people really talking about strategy, but I had a blast being out there. I really did enjoy what I did get to do. I wish it was longer than three days, and I do wish all the contestants the best of luck."
The Survivor broadcast kicked off with longtime host Jeff Probst explaining to the 18 castaways how they'd be divided into three tribes of six based on the most positive traits they are most often associated with by others.
Heroes are heralded for their courage, achievements and ideals, while Healers receive gratitude for their acts of service in helping people deal with their emotional or physical pain. And Hustlers are known for their work ethic but must work to receive respect from others.
In addition to Katrina and Ashley, "Levu" is also comprised of Alan Ball, a 31-year-old NFL player from Detroit, MI who currently resides in Houston, TX; Ben Driebergen, a 34-year-old U.S. Marine from Boise, ID; John "JP" Hilsabeck, a 28-year-old firefighter from Los Angeles, CA; and Chrissy Hofbeck, a 46-year-old financial analyst from Glen Gardner, NJ.
"Soko," the Healers tribe, is made up of Jessica Johnston, a 29-year-old nurse practitioner from Cape Girardeau, MO who currently resides in Louisville, KY; Roark Luskin, a 27-year-old social worker from Palo Alto, CA who currently resides in Santa Monica, CA; Cole Medders, a 24-year-old wilderness therapy guide from Little Rock, AR; Joe Mena, a 34-year-old probation officer from Bronx, NY who currently resides in Tolland, CT; Desiree "Desi" Williams, a 27-year-old physical therapist from Peachtree City, GA who currently resides in Newport News, VA; and Mike Zahalsky, a 43-year-old urologist from Parkland, FL.
"Yawa," the Hustlers tribe, features Patrick Bolton, a 24-year-old small business owner from Lanett, AL who currently resides in Auburn, AL; Alexandrea "Ali" Elliott, a 24-year-old celebrity assistant from Eastvale, CA who currently resides in Los Angeles, CA; Simone Nguyen, a 25-year-old diversity advocate from Worcester, MA who currently resides in New York, NY; Devon Pinto, a 23-year-old surf instructor from Carlsbad, CA who currently resides in Solana Beach, CA; Lauren Rimmer, a 35-year-old fisherman from Beaufort, NC; and Ryan Ulrich, a 23-year-old bellhop from North Arlington, NJ.
On Day 1 of a 39-day adventure, Jeff explained to the castaways that they must grab as many supplies and as much food as possible from the large boat and transport it to their tribe's small boat.
But back on the beach, each tribe had a burning urn 15 feet high. So once at shore, tribemates had to work together to lift one person high enough to light a torch. The first tribe to get fire would win a massive fire-making kit, while the tribe to finish in second place would receive flint. The third-place tribe would receive nothing.
While searching the large boat for items to take with him, Ryan found and grabbed a secret advantage, and he was extremely excited.
After a chaotic start, the Healers arrived at the beach first, followed be the Heroes. Jeff joked that the Hustlers were totally going the wrong way and heading to a different beach.
Each tribe was then required to hop back in its boat and follow a map to the right beach. While getting settled and building shelter, Roark from the Healers gushed about how her tribe is used to a team-based mentality in terms of how they approach their lives and professions, which could only serve as an advantage for them. Healers are also known for having big hearts, which wouldn't hurt their chances either.

Jessica then called Cole "Tarzan," joking about how she was in love with him because of his "ripped" body and blonde hair and blue eyes.
At Heroes' camp, Alan talked to Ben about needing to keep the tribe strong, suggesting that JP would probably be an asset for them, as well as Ashley considering she's young and fit. Ashley and JP, however, were getting pretty buddy-buddy, and Alan worried they were too close. Alan wanted to be a solid four with that group, but he also didn't want to be at the mercy of a power couple.
Alan therefore intended for Ashley and JP to think they were working together, but in reality, Alan wanted to break them up. Meanwhile, the two mothers in the tribe, Chrissy and Katrina, were on the outs, as their tribemates dubbed them "the mom squad." Ben thought winning was the most important thing for his tribe right now.
Over at Hustlers' camp, the players talked about how they are known to be hard workers. Ali thought Patrick was "meshing with the group," so she wanted to know where his head was at. The pair then talked strategy and agreed to have each other's backs in the game, leaving Patrick with the notion he could trust Ali.
Ryan then went off to read his secret advantage, which was called an "Immunity Super Idol." The idol could be used to save one person in his tribe after the votes are read at the very first Tribal Council. Ryan learned that if the Hustlers won immunity at the challenge, he could anonymously pass the advantage to someone in the losing tribe to use.
Meanwhile, Mike on the Healers tribe revealed to cameras that his son had insisted he look for a hidden Immunity Idol right away. Mike's biggest fear was being voted out first, so he decided to listen to his son, but Joe was on his case. Joe figured Mike was off looking for an idol while the rest of the tribe assumed he was collecting firewood, and so Joe later confronted the urologist to find out for certain.
Mike felt bullied by Joe, who was very aggressive in trying to get Mike to admit he had found -- or was at least searching for -- an idol. Mike didn't trust him at all, but he realized he needed to be careful because "perception is 90 percent reality" in this game and he didn't want to have to fight the perception of him.
At Hustlers' camp on Day 2, Ryan and Devon began an unlikely bromance. Ryan thought Devon might want to work with someone "more strategically sound," and Devon thought they had perfect chemistry. Ryan therefore shared the news of his advantage with Devon, and Devon told the cameras proudly that they were going to "cause chaos together."

JP and Ashley told Alan that he was "tripping," but Alan didn't care that he looked crazy. At one point, JP even stripped off his pants to prove to Alan that he wasn't hiding an idol. The pair agreed Alan was a "loose cannon" who could "rock the ship" if they weren't careful. They worried that keeping Alan around would only be a liability down the road.
On Day 3, the three tribes gathered together and met Jeff for the first Immunity Challenge of the season.
Jeff instructed each tribe to race up a cargo net to the top of a tower, pull a heavy cart up, hop in the cart and slide down to the sand, where there would be a choice of three Survivor table mazes. The first tribe to arrive at the mazes would get first choice on which one to try, while the tribe to arrive second would be allowed to choose between the remaining two mazes. The third-place tribe, however, would get no choice.
Afterward, each tribe had to work together to get the maze to the top of an even taller tower, where two players must then maneuver three balls through the maze. The first two tribes to finish the competition would win immunity, while the losing tribe would be headed off to Tribal Council later that night.
Halfway through the challenge, the Heroes were in the lead and got the first choice of maze -- a traditional maze. The Hustlers earned the second pick and selected the obstacle maze, while the Healers were stuck with the third maze that appeared to have a vertical rail going through the middle of it.
Chrissy and Ben completed the maze for the Heroes, Devon and Ali worked on the maze for the Hustlers, and Mike and Desi attempted to complete the maze on behalf of the Healers tribe. In the end, Healers won immunity in first place, followed by the Hustlers in second place. The Hustlers were also given flint as a victory prize.
Right after the challenge, Chrissy got down on her hands and knees and vomited. Meanwhile, Ryan from the Hustlers tribe had to determine whom he wanted to give his secret advantage to. Ryan was thinking that by giving the advantage to a weak outsider in the group, a strong threat in the game may go home as a result.
Later that day, the Heroes debated which castaway they should send packing. Ashley went from having a solid alliance of four people to having little-to-no trust in anyone.
Alan and the two moms, Chrissy and Katrina, were paranoid that they had targets on their backs, so they discussed with Alan the possibility of having Ben join their little group and become a new alliance of four people. Alan and Ben agreed to the deal, so Katrina had a little faith the plan might work -- although she wasn't sure which players really had her back.
Meanwhile, Alan and Ben agreed Ashley was a "wild card" because of her relationship with JP. Ben said Alan and himself had to decide between teaming up with the potential power couple and taking Chrissy or Katrina out, or working with the "mom squad" to take Ashley out.
Ben feared JP and Ashley's relationship, but he seemed more concerned with getting rid of the weakest links in the tribe. Ben said the vote was going to boil down whom Alan and himself could trust the most.
Chrissy then discovered she was secretly chosen to receive "immense power in the game." Chrissy was thrilled about the advantage, telling the cameras she would absolutely save herself if necessary, but she'd have to listen to everyone at Tribal Council to determine whether she'd be willing to use the advantage on someone else.

The tribe then discussed Alan's antics and paranoia at camp.
"If I go home tonight because I'm silly, so be it," Alan declared.
Ben then told Jeff the tribe needed to stay strong and hash out its issues later. Alan revealed Chrissy and Katrina's names had been tossed around at camp as being on the chopping block, but Chrissy argued she had skills her tribemates could benefit from in the game.
It then became time to vote, and Jeff ultimately revealed Katrina had to go.
