Blood vs. Water 2 will apparently have one major difference from Survivor's first stab at the theme two seasons ago.

Survivor host Jeff Probst has revealed Survivor: San Juan del Sur -- Blood vs. Water will drop Redemption Island in exchange for a new twist although he had originally announced in May the second Blood vs. Water season would feature the same format just with brand new castaways.

"Instead of Redemption Island, we decided we have this arena being built: What if instead of [Redemption Island], we use it for something else. Something that will make Blood vs. Water a little more interesting -- a little more bloody?" Probst told Entertainment Weekly.

"I'll wait and let you see that yourself. We've got to save that, but you will see it soon. I think you'll like it and it works!

Probst explained that when he first insisted Redemption Island would be a part of the next Survivor edition this fall, he truly believed that at the time and wasn't lying.

"At the time, I told you the truth, which was, 'Redemption Island is returning...' although we weren't going to give them the chance to swap out. We had a different idea in mind... It worked last time. We got great drama from it... [Then] the finale ended and I had a chance to breathe, and then sitting on the creative, now your head goes into the 29th season," Probst said.

"And we all started looking at it, and it started feeling like, 'Ahh, I don't know. I don't know if Redemption Island is the right thing.' It would be the safe thing to do, because we knew it worked. So I got all the cards out and just started looking at all the players in my living room and started imagining, 'What else could you do with people who love each other that would really make it difficult?'"

Probst then said a light bulb then went off.

"We came up with an idea and then everybody puts their two cents in and formed a new idea. So this is the unusual, historic thing... I was completely honest [before] in the moment and misleading to all the players, who, I know, listened to that. So they're all out here [playing] now... [thinking], 'I know we're doing Redemption Island.' [Well], we're not doing Redemption Island! When you're out, it's over," Probst told EW.

"I take grief from people who say, 'Oh, Jeff says make big moves because it's good for the show but it's not good for the game.' That is not true. I think it's good for the game and it's exactly how we live. It's why we're leaving the comfort of having half of the players returning, we're leaving the comfort of Redemption Island -- which we knew worked really well last time -- to do something completely different. New people, no Redemption Island, stakes are higher, there is no way to save their loved one. If they're out, they're gone. How would you feel after that?"
