Survivor: Island of the Idols featured the Lairo tribe voting out Vince Moua with an idol in his pocket after he visited Rob "Boston Rob" Mariano and Sandra Diaz-Twine and won an advantage during Wednesday night's Season 39 episode on CBS.

Vince, a 27-year-old admissions counselor from Merced, CA, who currently resides in Palo Alto, CA, was voted out by his Lairo tribe on Night 8 of the game in a 5-3-1 vote instead of Karishma Patel, a 37-year-old personal injury lawyer from Philadelphia, PA, who currently resides in Houston, TX, and Tom Laidlaw, a 60-year-old former NHL hockey player from Ontario, Canada, who currently resides in Greenwich, CT.

Karishma received three votes from her tribe, while Vince voted for Tom.

"I was just blindsided I guess you can say," Vince said following his ouster.

"I did bring the idol in my water bottle and I was really thinking of being like, 'Jeff, first time in Survivor history, [here's a soaked idol].' I relied too much on the trust I had with the women. It's an unfortunate situation, and I think that really bit me in the butt."

Survivor: Island of the Idols - Night 6

The Survivor broadcast began on Night 6 at the Vokai camp, with Jason Linden, a 32-year-old personal injury lawyer from New York, NY, celebrating how he had survived the vote and Molly Byman went home instead.

The Vokai tribe was made up of Jason; Noura Salman, a 36-year-old entrepreneur from London, UK and Bethesda, MD who currently resides in North Potomac, MD; Kellee Kim, a 29-year-old MBA student from Costa Mesa, CA, who currently resides in Philadelphia, PA; Lauren Beck, a 28-year-old nanny from Bakersfield, CA, and Rochester Hills, MI, who currently resides in Glendale, CA; Janet Carbin, a 59-year-old chief lifeguard from Neptune, NJ, who currently resides in Palm Bay, FL; Jack Nichting, a 23-year-old graduate student from Newport News, VA, who currently resides in Harrisonburg, VA; Tommy Sheehan, a 26-year-old 4th grade teacher from Bayville, NY, who currently resides in Long Beach, NY; Jamal Shipman, a 33-year-old college administrator from Jersey City, NJ, who currently resides in Providence, RI; and Dan Spilo, a 48-year-old talent manager from New York, NY, who currently resides in Los Angeles, CA.

Jason said this proved his tribe was willing to work with him going forward, but he acknowledged Jack and Jamal would be angry because the vote was a total blindside for them.

Jack called the vote an "eye opener" and said he had "a lot of work to do."

Tommy hoped to rebuild his relationships with Jamal and Jack, but he needed to do some major damage control with Jamal because he was tougher to win back. Jack, for instance, seemed fine with the blindside after Tommy explained the tribe was simply terrified of Molly.

Jamal tried to act like things were okay with Tommy, but he told the cameras he was not going to forget this, and he didn't exactly seem forgiving.

Survivor: Island of the Idols - Day 7

On Day 7 at Lairo's camp, the girls were bonding and had an alliance together.

The Lairo tribe was comprised of Vince; Karishma; Tom; Elizabeth Beisel, a 26-year-old Olympic medalist from Saunderstown, RI; Missy Byrd, a 24-year-old Air Force veteran from Decatur, GA, who currently resides in Tacoma, WA; Dean Kowalski, a 28-year-old tech salesman from Westfield, NJ, who currently resides in New York, NY; Aaron Meredith, a 36-year-old gym owner from Uncasville, CT, who currently resides in Warwick, RI; Elaine Stott, a 41-year-old factory worker from Woodbine, KY, who currently resides in Rockholds, KY; and Chelsea Walker, a 26-year-old digital content creator from Marlton, NJ, who currently resides in Los Angeles, CA.

But for Karishma, her playful attitude with the girls was all an act.

Karishma said she came on the show representing an entire community of Indian women. She therefore wasn't comfortable with showing skin or being in her underwear on-camera, but she felt the need to pretend to be comfortable in order to fit in.

The guys could tell the girls were really coming together and seemed close, so Aaron noted they needed to make sure the women wouldn't pick the men off one by one.

The men therefore formed an alliance as well, but Vince didn't trust Aaron since Aaron previously wanted him out. Vince had every intention to work with the women, especially because they seemed to be in control of the game.

Meanwhile, at Vokai's camp, Dan told the cameras he loved naive players, like Jack and Jamal, but his strategy going forward was to win -- win as a tribe and win for himself.

"The win for me and the biggest win for the tribe for the next vote is Noura," Dan insisted.

"And I think Jack and Jamal will be okay with it. It's statistically improbable to get on everybody's nerves, and she's accomplished it."

Dan told Tommy how he felt about Noura, and then Tommy shared the information with Jack, Jamal, Kellee and Jason.

Jamal said it would be nice to go to Tribal and have a nice and easy united vote.

"But as someone who feels on the outs, I 100 percent reserve every right to go rogue and do whatever the hell I think is best for me. I want to have agency. I want my moves to be mine and take back control of this game," Jamal said in a confessional.

Jamal said Dan had a used-car salesman vibe to him that made him feel "icky," so he thought he could flip the vote on Dan. Jamal therefore tried to rally Janet on his side, telling her that Dan was "too quick-talking."

Janet thought Jamal had made "a valid point" because Dan was astute and knows the game. She also thought he was too much of a presence on their tribe.

Janet spoke to Tommy about the possibility, but Tommy wasn't sure that move would be best for their game. Tommy feared Jamal was making a selfish decision and questioned as a result whether targeting Jamal would actually be best for his game.

Meanwhile, Karishma on the Lairo tribe cut her hand with a knife when cutting open a coconut. She said she stabbed herself through to the bone and got dizzy.

Once Karishma got down on the ground, no one came over to help her or even ask if she was okay. With that being said, Karishma said everyone on the tribe was "dead" to her, even if her cut wasn't that big of a deal in the end.

Vince gets sent to Island of the Idols

Suddenly, the Lairo tribe received a message from a man that arrived on a boat. Vince was chosen to go to the Island of the Idols, and Elizabeth knew it would be possible he could receive an idol there.

Elizabeth and the rest of the tribe therefore determined they needed to flush Vince's idol when he got back, and that's when Dean accidentally blurted out the tribe should "split the votes."

Karishma seemed to think in that moment she'd be the other target.

When Vince arrived to the Island of the Idols, Vince was greeted by Rob and Sandra. He was so excited and stunned to see his mentors that he broke down and cried.

Rob said it felt awesome to know he had such an impact on someone's life.

Rob explained Vince would learn a lesson about staying calm under pressure.

"Your emotions have to be in check in this game. So for your test, tonight, you must sneak into the other tribe's camp and steal fire by lighting [a] torch. You're going to have to get so close to them that it's a big-time risk," Rob told Vince.

"If they don't have fire, you're going to have to figure out how to bring us proof somehow. If you return with fire and without getting caught, you earn an Immunity Idol good for your next two Tribal Councils. If you get caught, you lose your vote for the next Tribal Council."

Rob wondered whether Vince would have the confidence to attempt such a daring feat or play it safe and pass up the shot at an advantage.

Vince initially thought it would be "an impossible mission," but he realized this might be his only opportunity to receive an idol at this point in the game.

As a result, Rob and Sandra presented Vince with a map and explained how he'd get to the other camp. Sandra knew the task would be very hard since he'd be moving at night.

Rob wished Vince good luck but knew at least one person in the opposing tribe would be awake upon the castaway's entry into his or her camp.

Vince earns an Immunity Idol

Vince was later shown arriving at Vokai's camp via boat. Vince could barely see anything and it was raining. Once he got to camp, someone started yelling out because he was having a bad dream, and he woke everybody up.

In addition, Vokai's fire was dead since it was raining. Vince therefore collected as much ash as possible to prove he had made it to the tribe's fire. Vince shoveled ash into his water bottle quietly and managed to escape the camp with no one noticing him.

Vince joked he had "ninja skills" and had completed "mission impossible." But on his way out, Vince was a bit clumsy and tripped and fell.

Vince returned to the Island of the Idols and proved to Rob and Sandra he had adapted in the face of adversity. The mentors therefore rewarded Vince with an idol good for the next two Tribal Councils. Vince just hoped he would use the idol appropriately.

Survivor: Island of the Idols - Day 8

On Day 8, the two tribes gathered and met Survivor host Jeff Probst for the season's next Tribal Immunity Challenge.

Each tribe was required to pick one person to swim out to retrieve a key while the rest of the tribe dives into the ocean, climbs up onto a teeter-totter and balances as a group to retrieve two bags filled with puzzle pieces.

Each tribe must then use a key to unlock the last set of pieces. The first tribe to solve its puzzle would win immunity and Reward in the form of comfort -- cushions, blankets, chairs, a hammock, and a tarp.

The losing tribe would be forced to vote out the third person in this game.

Elizabeth swam for Lairo while Janet swam for Vokai. Both women ripped through the water, but Elizabeth got off to a bit of a lead.

Lairo had a big lead and started the puzzle first, but they didn't make much progress before Vokai caught up to them.

In the end, Vokai won the Immunity Challenge and Reward, sending Lairo back to Tribal Council.

Aaron said his tribe doesn't perform well in challenges, and although Karishma had "shot herself in the foot," Vince was the tribe's top priority to go home since he had gone to the Island of the Idols.

At Lairo's camp after the challenge, everyone was upset they had lost. Karishma had fallen off the beam and screwed up during the challenge, but Vince had a huge target on his back.

The guys hoped all the girls would write down Vince's name. Dean said the four guys were going to write down Karishma's name and the five girls should write down Vince's name in order to flush out the idol.

The girls had the majority, so Missy didn't understand why they'd listen to the men and potentially get rid of one of their numbers. Missy didn't want to give Karishma up as a minority vote, and she didn't want to vote out Vince either.

Vince told Missy that Tom was "a liability," especially when it came to endurance, so she decided the girls should vote out Tom. Elizabeth, however, didn't want to see Tom go because he had become a father-figure for the tribe.

Elizabeth knew Elaine felt the same way and Vince would be the easier, better vote.

Vince asked Karishma to give him a name, but she wouldn't, which made him really frustrated. Vince knew she'd be an easy vote, but he told her to vote for Tom.

Vince planned to bring his hidden Immunity Idol with him to Tribal so he could play it in case his name happened to come up.

The ladies were trying to figure out whether to put the votes on Vince with Karishma as a backup option in case he played an idol or vote for Tom.

The girls knew the guys would be mad at them if they didn't play along, but they didn't want to make a mistake vote out an ally.

Survivor: Island of the Idols - Night 8 Tribal Council

At Tribal Council on Night 8, Tom acknowledged he was part of a great team but his tribe faltered when it came to puzzles.

Karishma admitted there was heat on her back and people were pointing fingers at her, but she insisted the tribe had yet to see how physically capable she can be. Karishma said she's strong and could push harder than anyone has ever seen.

Karishma told Jeff that she was different from her tribemates but could still be an asset and ally for people. Karishma said she felt on the outs of a "sorority," but Missy said she was absolutely one of the girls.

After a discussion broke out about trust, Aaron promised his tribe he was going to stick with the plan and his alliance -- and Vince planned to do the same.

Right before the vote, Karishma stood up and walked over to different tribemates, whispering in their ears.

Jeff then revealed votes in the following order: Tom, Karishma, Karishma, Karishma, Vince, Vince, Vince, Vince, and Vince.

Vince was voted out of Survivor, allowing Karishma to breathe a sigh of relief. Vince wished everyone luck but was leaving the game with an idol in his pocket.

"Well, you make suck at puzzles, but you're really good at blindsides," Jeff joked.

The episode's closing credits later showed that Aaron, Tom, and Dean voted for Karishma; Chelsea, Karishma, Missy, Elizabeth, and Elaine voted for Vince; and Vince voted for Tom.
