Mark Burnett admitted to making a mistake during the finale of Survivor 3. It appears that neither Lindsey OR Kelly had any piercings. That means that Lex's answer of Lindsey was also correct, and there should have been a three-way tie going into the tie breaker.

Since it is unclear what would have happened in such a situation, the three tied contestants (Kim Johnson, Lex, and Tom) have all been awarded $100,000 and co-second place titles. Ethan will retain the $1 million and the title of Sole Survivor, Africa.
