Survivor: San Juan del Sur -- Blood vs. Water's merged Huyopa tribe eliminated Josh Canfield during Wednesday night's eighth episode of the CBS reality competition's 29th season.

Josh Canfield, a 32-year-old actor and writer from New York, NY, was voted out of his Huyopa tribe on Night 21 at the season's seventh Tribal Council session. 

On Day 19, Missy Payne, a 47-year-old owner of a competitive cheerleading gym from Dallas, TX, was pissed Julie McGee had quit the game because it threw a "wrinkle in the plan" for everyone, especially her alliance since they had all planned to get Josh out the night she left.

Jaclyn Schultz, a 25-year-old media buyer from Las Vegas, NV, and her boyfriend Jon Misch, a 26-year-old financial assistant from Waterford, MI, decided to take out Jeremy Collins, a 36-year-old firefighter from Foxboro, MA, whom they believed to be the leader of the pack.

The couple promised their loyalty to both sides of the tribe, but Jon thought his "best path" didn't include Jeremy going forward.

All the castaways then met Survivor host Jeff Probst for a Reward Challenge.

Jeff explained the players needed to divide themselves into two teams via a "schoolyard pick," race to load heavy puzzle pieces onto a cart, and then push that cart to the base of a tower where they'd use those pieces to build a temple. Once that temple was built, one person had to race to the top of the temple to unlock a statue. The team must then work together to hoist the statue to the top and raise their tribe's flag.

The first group to raise the flag would win Reward in the form of a taco bar complete with chicken, steak, pork, vegetarian items, beer, iced tea and margaritas.

On one team was Jeremy; Reed Kelly, a 31-year-old Broadway performer, model and aerialist from New York, NY; Natalie Anderson, a 28-year-old student and crossfit coach from Edgewater, NJ; Keith Nale, a 53-year-old fire captain from Shreveport, LA; and Natalie Anderson, a 28-year-old student and crossfit coach from Edgewater, NJ.

They played against Jon; Josh; Jaclyn; Baylor Wilson, a 20-year-old student from Nashville, TN; and Alec Christy, a 22-year-old student from Winter Park, FL.

Missy was not picked, so she had no shot at the Reward.

In the end, Keith's team won and they were forced to send one person to Exile Island. They picked Jon, saying they just wanted to send someone away who hadn't experienced it yet.

As the winning team enjoyed Reward, people from different alliances were gathered together. Reed explained they all just avoided strategy talk and attempted to keep the peace. It appeared to be Jeremy and Reed against everyone else.

Keith told the group his alliance had planned to get Julie out, and after she left, he didn't have a clue whom he would've voted for at Tribal Council that night. Jeremy, however, wasn't buying it and was convinced they were targeting him. Jeremy told the cameras Keith was at least trying to play the game but he wasn't any good at it. 

Back at camp, Josh felt the need to bond with Baylor to try to get the target off his back. Josh told her that she owed him one vote because he had saved Baylor once and constantly pushed to keep her off the chopping block. Josh asked for that same respect in return, but Baylor felt "blackmailed."

Baylor said a person shouldn't give a gift while expecting something in return. Based on what she knew about Josh and his religious background, she was surprised he was acting like that and felt she owed him nothing. Josh knew Missy was controlling Baylor and they probably wouldn't vote with the couples. 

Josh then talked to Jaclyn, and she assured him that herself and Jon weren't voting for him -- that it was "a fact." Josh was happy about that and tried to keep that relationship strong.

Over at Exile Island on Day 19, Jon said it was nice Jaclyn could build up her own relationships back at camp so no one would view her as just a "tag-along." Jon then received a hidden Immunity Idol clue and found it shortly afterwards by climbing rocks. He called it "a game-changer." 

On Day 21 at Huyopa's camp, Jeremy noted Wes, Alec and Keith were rude and had no manners at camp around the ladies. Baylor was also bugged by the fact Alec was treating her like a little sister.

Jaclyn thought Keith, Wes and Alec were "arrogant and rude" as well, saying the guys treated her differently once Jon left and with less respect. Jaclyn knew the guys needed her and Jon's vote, but she decided right then and there she didn't want to side with them.

Keith and Alec agreed to target Jeremy, and Alec insisted Jon and Jaclyn were definitely with them. However, Keith saw Jaclyn talking to Baylor a lot and he found that concerning. Alec said Jon was voting with the boys for sure because he trusted them and that Jaclyn would do whatever Jon told her to.

Later that day, all the castaways gathered for the season's next Individual Immunity Challenge.

For the challenge, the players were shown a series of symbols and had to use a cube to repeat them back to Jeff. If they got it wrong, they'd be out. The last person standing would win immunity and be safe from the next vote.

The competition came down to Jeremy and Josh, which was ironic because they both needed immunity the most. But Jeremy ended up winning.

Jeremy was thrilled about his victory because he knew "Josh and his goons" were going after him. Jeremy's plan was to get Josh out, and if Jon and Jaclyn didn't work with him, he knew he'd have to keep winning Immunity Challenges. 

Josh then talked to Reed, Keith, Alec and Wes about voting Baylor out with -- hopefully -- Jon and Jaclyn since Jeremy was no longer an option.

When Jaclyn and Jon had a chance to catch up after Jon being in exile for a couple days, Jaclyn expressed how she didn't want to go with the guys anymore because they didn't even talk to her when he was gone.

Jaclyn no longer liked the guys and explained she'd never win Immunity Challenges against them. She also told Jon he'd have a tough time beating them when he could choose to face off against people like Missy, Natalie and Baylor.

Jon, however, felt they couldn't beat Jeremy -- a struggling firefighter -- in the Final 3. Jon told the cameras he didn't like how the guys made the love of his life feel like crap but it was also a game and he couldn't make decisions solely based on emotion. Jaclyn said it was "stupid" Jon was trying to think about scenarios so far into the game.

Reed then approached Jon and Jaclyn, asking them to vote Baylor. Following that move, Keith told Missy flat out his alliance was going after Baylor. Missy reacted by telling Jon they needed to stick with the plan in targeting Josh. Jaclyn felt comfortable with Missy and Jeremy.

Because Jon and Jaclyn were telling everyone they were working with them, Jeremy told Natalie he didn't really trust Jon because he was "sneaky." Jon and Jaclyn just didn't appear to be on the same page.

That night, at Tribal Council, Jeremy and Josh both announced they knew their names were being tossed around. It also became clear Jeremy, Natalie, Missy, Baylor, and Jon and Jaclyn were supposedly together.

Jaclyn revealed to Jeff that both sides had approached her and Jon. Jon said they didn't try to be the swing vote even though it kept playing out like that. Natalie then noted she hoped Jon would stick with people he could trust, calling out the fact the guys treated Jaclyn badly at camp behind his back.

Jaclyn agreed the guys' behavior was "so frustrating." She said she felt respected by only a few people and they should've been more careful about that since a big decision was going to be made by her and Jon. Missy also agreed Wes and Alec acted like they were in a frat together, and Josh looked worried for his alliance.

Jeff then revealed the votes. Five castaways voted for Baylor, while six people voted to oust Josh from Survivor. He became the first member of the jury.

The episode's closing credits revealed Alec, Wes, Keith, Josh, and Reed voted for Baylor. Everyone else cast their votes for Josh.
