Survivor has announced the 18 new castaways, including famous political figure Jon Lovett, who will compete on Season 47 of the iconic reality competition series this fall.

The 18 newbie Survivor castaways, ages 24 through 59, include a flight school owner, an ER doctor, an AI research assistant, and Jon, the co-host of "Pod Save America" and former speechwriter for President Barack Obama.

Jon will find himself "thrust into a world filled with a different kind of cutthroat politics," according to CBS, when Survivor premieres its 47th season with a special two-hour episode on Wednesday, September 18 at 8PM ET/PT on CBS.

After Survivor's premiere, CBS will air 90-minute weekly episodes of the series beginning on Wednesday, September 25 at 8PM ET/PT.

Survivor will, once again, be hosted by Emmy Award winner Jeff Probst.

Survivor will feature this batch of competitors forming a new society as they attempt to adapt to their harsh physical surroundings and navigate ever-changing social interactions.

Throughout the "twist-packed" game that was filmed in Fiji, the castaways will be shown facing "unexpected obstacles," CBS teased.

When the game begins, the 18 castaways will be divided into three tribes of six people.

"The moral dilemmas and extreme situations will test even the strongest competitor, and the mental and physical challenges require players to constantly fine-tune their strategies to survive another day," according to CBS.

In the end, only one castaway will outwit, outlast and outplay the others, winning the $1 million grand prize and title of "Sole Survivor."

Season 46 of Survivor wrapped in May with Kenzie Petty winning the game over Charlie Davis in a tight jury vote.
