CBS's premiere of SURVIVOR: THAILAND, the fifth edition of television's highest rated and most watched reality series, attracted an average of more than 23 million viewers (on par with last year's two editions) and topped the premiere of last season's SURVIVOR: MARQUESAS in households, adults 25-54, adults 18-49 and adults 18-34, according to Final Nielsen Ratings for Thursday, Sept. 19.

SURVIVOR: THAILAND kicked off with a 13.2/22 with 23.05m viewers, 9.3/29 in adults 18-34, 9.6/28 in adults 18-49 and 10.3/27 in adults 25-54, easily winning its time period in viewers, households and key demographics. Compared to the premiere of SURVIVOR: MARQUESAS, THAILAND is up +22% in adults 18-34 (from 7.6/20), +5% in adults 18-49 (from 9.1/22), +3% in adults 25-54 (from 10.0/23) and +2% in households (from 13.0/20).
This is the best Thursday performance for a SURVIVOR broadcast since the 1/10/02 "Survivor Africa" finale in households, adults 18-34 and adults 18-49 and the best Thursday delivery in adults 25-54 since 3/7/02. SURVIVOR posted its best share delivery for any first episode since the post Super Bowl premiere of SURVIVOR II in households, adults 18-34, adults 18-49 and adults 25-54. This is the largest share delivery for a Thursday SURVIVOR broadcast in adults 18-34, adults 18-49 and adults 25-54 since the finale of SURVIVOR II.
SURVIVOR grew significantly at 8:30 PM -- up +5% in households (13.5/21 from 12.9/22), +11% in adults 18-34 (9.8/29 from 8.8/29), +10% in adults 18-49 (10.0/28 from 9.1/28), +9% in adults 25-54 (10.8/27 from 9.9/27) -- and added 1.98m viewers (24.00m from 22.02m).
"'Survivor: Thailand'" is off to a very strong start, surpassing the success of its predecessor, 'Survivor: Marquesas' with younger audiences," said David Poltrack, Executive Vice President, Research and Planning, CBS Television.
