HGTV announced earlier this week Christina had signed a deal for a new original series with the network titled Christina on the Coast, which is set to premiere in early 2019.
Christina on the Coast will feature the real estate and house-flipping expert expanding her design business in Southern California. In the eight-episode series, Christina will transform clients' outdated properties into high-end showplaces.
Although Christina and Tarek filmed Flip or Flop together and appeared to get along in the middle of their divorce proceedings, the source said "there's major competition between them."
Tarek is reportedly especially upset Christina has asked her boyfriend of about six months and new love, 39-year-old British TV host Ant Anstead, to appear on her new series.
"Tarek's struggling to find love and feels like good things just fall into Christina's lap. He's so bitter!" the source told In Touch.
According to HGTV, however, Tarek is also in discussions to develop a potential new series with HGTV.
Christina and Tarek were married for seven years and are parents to two young children: Daughter Taylor, 7, and son Brayden, 2. The couple quietly broke up in May 2016 but didn't publicly announced their split until December of that year.
Tarek filed for divorce in January 2017, and the paperwork was finalized one year later.
Flip or Flop returned to HGTV with 15 new Season 7 episodes in late May, and the episodes have featured the former couple continuing to work together and adjust to their new relationship dynamic as exes.
"The past few years have brought a lot of change into my life and I am so excited to see what the next stage has in store for me both professionally and personally, there is so much to look forward to and this is only the beginning," Christina said in a recent statement.
