Taylor Swift seemed to deliver a thinly veiled diss towards Kanye West during her Grammy Awards acceptance speech for Album of the Year.
"As the first woman to win album of the year at the Grammys twice, I want to say to all the young women out there: there are going to be people along the way who will try to undercut your success or take credit for your accomplishments or your fame," the pop star said onstage.
"But if you just focus on the work and you don't let those people sidetrack you, someday when you get where you're going you'll look around and you'll know it was you and the people who love you who put you there and that will be the greatest feeling in the world."
Swift was congratulated on Twitter by fans and celebrities for the speech and how it can inspire women to follow their dreams.
"Loved your amazing words! Keep encouraging all those young women to write their stories & sing their songs," Reese Witherspoon tweeted with Maria Shriver adding, "Congrats to @taylorswift13 for making history at #GRAMMYs, but it was her speech to young women and women of all ages that inspired me Bravo.Swift's acceptance speech comes after West referenced the singer on his recently released album "The Life of Pablo" rapping on the track "Famous," "I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex / Why? I made that [expletive] famous."
Friends and family spoke out against the lyrics on social media with the 26-year-old's publicist noting that Swift did not give West permission to say the line.
