Kailyn Lowry has apologized for her racially charged comments.
"I'm deeply sorry for making those comments," Lowry said in a statement to MTV published Wednesday. "They were not representative of who I am. Diversity is something I value, especially in my own family."
Lowry previously apologized last week on Twitter, writing, "I already know what I said was wrong, it completely came out the wrong way too. This is weighing heavy on me. Trust that..." Husband Javi Marroquin also came to her defense, tweeting, "My bae is not racist. her statement came out wrong and was taking out of content. Move on."
Lowry came to fame on season two of MTV reality show "16 & Pregnant" in 2010, and currently stars on spinoff series "Teen Mom 2." Season 5 came to a close on Wednesday, but an "Ask the Moms" special will air October 6, and a "Teen Mom 2 Check-Up with Dr. Drew" special is scheduled for October 8.
