The Amazing Race's twentieth season eliminated Dave Gregg and Cherie Gregg during Sunday night's broadcast of the CBS reality competition.

The "Married Clowns" team became the second team eliminated from the around-the-world competition after they arrived at the Race's second Pit Stop at the El Gomero, a 200-year-old tree that stands in the middle of a neighborhood in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in last place.

"Even though this was a short journey for us, I was proud of Dave. He didn't give up," Cherie said following her team's ouster.

"Cherie and I have been through a lot worse in our close to 20 years of marriage, and at the end of the day, we still have each other. So, we really haven't lost," Dave explained.

"I'm very, very lucky," Cherie said.

"We're the luckiest couple on earth," Dave added.

The second episode of The Amazing Race's twentieth season began where last week's broadcast left off, with the Race's 10 teams meeting with The Amazing Race host Phil Keoghan and leaving the course's first Pit Stop at the Patios de Cafayarte Hotel & Spa in Salta, Argentina.

Since they had been the team to finish in first place at the Race's first Pit Stop, "Married Couple" Dave Brown Jr. and Rachel Brown -- who had the Express Pass, which would allow the couple to skip one challenge at any point in the Race that they would not want to complete, in their pocket as a result of winning the prior leg -- were the first team to depart from the hotel and spa at 2:46AM.

They were then followed by "Engaged Couple" and former Big Brother houseguests Brendon Villegas and Rachel Reilly at 2:48AM, "Border Patrol Agents and Friends" Art Velez and J.J. Carrell at 2:49AM, "Federal Agents and Friends" Nary Ebeid and Jamie Graetz at 3:21AM, "Dating Divorcees" Vanessa Macias and Ralph Kelley at 3:31AM, "Twin Brothers" Elliot Weber and Andrew Weber at 4:21AM, "Cousins" Kerri Paul and Stacy Bowers at 5:23AM, Dave and Cherie at 5:27AM, "Friends" William "Bopper" Minton and Mark Jackson at 5:29AM, and "Friends" Joey "Fitness" Lasalla and Danny Horal at 5:35AM.

Upon opening their departure clues, the teams were instructed to drive themselves to the Cafayate Town Square and wait for a mounted horseman who would hand them their next clue.

Nary and Jamie revealed they had lied to their fellow Racers about their professions and told everyone they were teachers because they assumed people might have been threatened by their actual occupations of and skill sets from being federal agents.

The teams ended up arriving in the Town Square and finding the horseman in the same exact order of which they had left the Pit Stop.

Once the teams received their next set of clues, it then became time for them to complete one of two Detour tasks: "Boil My Water" or "Light My Fire."

"Boil My Water" required the teams to visit one of three isolated villages and provide them with a means of cooking. Once there, they must take a basic solar kitchen from a pickup truck and assemble it using only the picture on the side of the box as their guide. They must then position the kitchen in direct sunlight and place a tea kettle filled with one bottle of water on the dish. Once the tea kettle came to a boil and whistled, they'd receive their next clue.

"Light My Fire" required the teams to gather fire wood and clay by the river bed, load in all onto a donkey and then transport it one mile to a local pottery workshop. Once they delivered their goods, they'd receive their next clue.

All of the teams except for Art and J.J. opted to do the "Boil My Water" task because they believed it would be less labor intensive. 

Rachel B. and Dave B. were the first team to arrive at the destination of their chosen Detour task, and they were soon followed by Vanessa and Ralph, Nary and Jamie, Dave G. and Cherie, Elliot and Andrew, Kerri and Stacy, Joey and Danny, Bopper and Mark, Brendon and Rachel R., and Art and J.J.

Bopper and Mark, Brendon and Rachel R. and Art and J.J all lost time and fell behind the other teams because they took the longest to find the location of where their Detour task would begin. Art and J.J. had the most trouble and admitted they had wasted about 20 minutes driving around. 

Because they were only team to attempt to complete the "Light My Fire" Detour task, they hoped it would come quickly and easily to them and that they would be able to catch up to the other teams if not gain ground and surpass them.

Art and J.J.'s plan proved to be successful, as they finished the "Light My Fire" task very efficiently and within no time. The "Boil My Water" task ended up being a bit more difficult for most of the teams and seemed to be very time consuming.

Bopper and Mark were the first team to complete the Detour task. They were then followed by Art and J.J., Rachel B. and Dave B., Brendon and Rachel R., Cherie and Dave G., Vanessa and Ralph, Elliot and Andrew, Joey and Danny, Kerri and Stacy, and Nary and Jamie -- who said it took about 45 minutes for their water to boil.

The teams were then instructed to take an 18-hour bus ride to Buenos Aires and then make their way to Mercado De Hacienda De Liniers to find their next clue.

Depending on when they arrived at the bus terminal and bought their tickets, the Racers could hop on one of three buses heading to Buenos Aires. Rachel B. and Dave B., Brendon and Rachel R., Art and J.J., and Bopper and Mark all got seats on the first bus leaving the station. Dave G. and Cherie, Vanessa and Ralph, Elliot and Andrew, and Joey and Danny snagged tickets for the second bus.

And finally, Nary and Jamie and Kerri and Stacy were the only two teams to get stuck traveling on the third bus. Both teams expected they would be the last ones to arrive in Buenos Aires, and as a result, fight to avoid a last-place finish. However, the second bus ended up stalling because a window had dangerously shattered during the ride.

Vanessa and Ralph, who were aboard the second bus, thought they saw the third bus carrying Nary and Jamie and Kerri and Stacy on it pass them during the amount of time it took for the incident to be addressed and taken care of.

The third bus then arrived after the first bus and before the second one. Kerri and Stacy and Nary and Jamie were unaware at the time that one of the buses broke down, but they were hopeful that something could have happened to cost the other teams time.

After rushing to get off the bus and move forward in the leg, Rachel B. and Dave B. were the first team to arrive at Mercado De Hacienda De Liniers and they were soon followed by Art and J.J., Brendon and Rachel R., Bopper and Mark, Nary and Jamie, Kerri and Stacy, Vanessa and Ralph, Joey and Danny, Cherie and Dave G., and Elliot and Andrew.

Once the teams received their next set of clues, they learned it was time to complete a Roadblock task. The Roadblock task required one member from each team to count the number of cattle in one of the corrals and calculate the average weight per head after an auctioneer yelled out the total weight of the cattle. The math had to be completed while the auction was going on and before the auctioneer could move onto the next corral.

Rachel B. opted to do the Roadblock task for her team, and she was later joined by J.J., Rachel R., Mark, Stacy, Nary, Dave G., Andrew, Vanessa, and Joey.

It seemed to take several tries for most of the teams to find the right solution to the math problem, which led many of the team members to join forces and work with one another. Rachel B. and J.J. decided to help each other, Mark and Rachel R. worked together and Joey and Andrew also collectively came to the correct answer.

Dave G. struggled the most with the task and Cherie watched him from a distance, wishing she could help him and calm his nerves as the other teams passed the "Married Clowns" team one by one. However, Dave G. finally solved the problem and the couple were optimistic that maybe it wasn't too late for them to survive another leg of the Race and avoid elimination.

Art and J.J. and Rachel B. and Dave B. were the first two teams to complete the Roadblock task and they did so simultaneously. They were then followed by Bopper and Mark and Brendon and Rachel R. -- who finished at the same time -- Kerri and Stacy, Nary and Jamie, Vanessa and Ralph, Joey and Danny, Elliot and Andrew, and eventually Dave G. and Cherie.

Once the teams completed the Roadblock task, they learned they must make their way by taxi to the El Gomero, which would serve as The Amazing Race's second Pit Stop.

Rachel R. and Brendon ran back to see if their taxi driver had waited for them while they were completing the cattle count, but he didn't and drove off. Brendon was a bit frustrated they had wasted their time going back rather than just waiting for a new cab that probably would've arrived in no time and blamed Rachel.

Rachel then broke down into tears and Brendon regretted making her feel bad and attempted to console her in order to finish the leg strong.

Rachel B. and Dave B. arrived at the Pit Stop mat and met Phil in first place. For finishing the leg before any of the other teams, the couple won a trip for two to the island of Grenada.

Art and J.J. then came in second place, while Bopper and Mark were right behind them and subsequently secured third place.

Brendon and Rachel R. then made it to the Pit Stop mat in fourth place and were followed by Kerri and Stacy and Nary and Jamie -- who were thrilled to learn they had come in fifth and sixth place respectively due to a bus breaking down and would not be eliminated from the Race.

Vanessa and Ralph then arrived in seventh place, Joey and Danny came in eighth and Elliot and Andrew stepped onto the Pit Stop mat in ninth. Dave G. and Cherie then met Phil in tenth -- and last -- place with smiles on their faces.

"David and Cherie, you are the last team to arrive. Unfortunately, you have both been eliminated from the Race," Phil told the couple. "Any regrets?"

"No, not at all. I mean, it will well me up right now to say this, but so many things in my life had to come together to be in this moment in my time. I'm just thankful, so thankful," Dave said.

"We're just really lucky. We're lucky to have each other and lucky to just be here on The Amazing Race," Cherie added.
