Phil told TheWrap that he thinks viewers will be captivated by The Amazing Race's largest cast in history and how producers chose to put those Racers to the test in each 90-minute episode.
"Let's just say there's some good, tactical, strategic drama that I think fans will respond to," Phil shared ahead of the new season. "Just a fun way of changing things up, in a good way."
In addition to the Fast Forward and U-Turn twists, which fans have seen in prior seasons, The Amazing Race's upcoming season will introduce the Fork in the Road during the first leg in Hong Kong.
When teams arrive at the Fork in the Road, they will have to choose which direction and route they want to take to the Pit Stop, creating two parallel races where two teams will ultimately be eliminated.
"It's actually been something that's been discussed for quite a while and just seemed like a good opportunity to try this season," Phil explained.
"Having the 90-minute episodes has allowed us to try a few new things like, for instance, the 14 teams, because we've got a little bit extra time."
Phil elaborated, "And there will be a few other things throughout the season, some things that are returning that fans have seen before and then some other new elements that are there to add to the surprises."
Phil boasted about how Season 37 will be "a surprise show" from start to finish.
"I mean, literally, every time they rip open an envelope, it's a surprise," Phil boasted.
"We have one new element that I really like that we've never done before, which gives a team quite a bit of -- let's say influence -- on the other teams. I really like that element, and it happens sort of towards the middle of the season."

Phil said he's "really interested" to see how the audience will react to this new element.
"It definitely stirs things up," Phil continued.
"And then there's also quite a dramatic moment where I bring all the teams together and that ends up becoming more than we thought it was going to become."

Phil also insisted viewers are going to "love this cast" of 14 teams.
"They're a special cast. I always feel like we offer up a cast that our very diverse audience can identify with, which I love," Phil shared.
"If you look at consistent diversity -- not just skin color, but diversity of lifestyle: people that vote for different parties; people that are young; people that are old; people that are poor, rich; people with different backgrounds -- I really do feel like we have consistently put up the most diverse cast of the reality shows over the two decades that we've been on."
During a separate interview with CBS' TV station affiliate in Detroit, Phil said The Amazing Race will continue to be an interesting show because the producers continue to push themselves and the show's limits.

"Every episode is going to have a game-changing surprise. Some of these surprises are returning twists and other surprises are things we've never done before."
Phil noted how "the potential energy" of the mix of people is "huge" and this is going to be the "biggest, baddest and most competitive" The Amazing Race season yet.
Phil gushed about how The Amazing Race's studio is the entire world and so the show can always one-up itself and become bigger and better.
During every leg of the Race, each team must compete in a series of challenges, some mental and some physical, and only when the tasks are completed will they learn of their next location.
Teams that are the farthest behind will gradually be eliminated as the season progresses, and the first team to arrive at the final destination and cross the finish line will win the $1 million prize.

The Amazing Race concluded its 36th season in May 2024 with "Dating Couple" Ricky Rotandi and Cesar Aldrete being crowned champions.
Ricky, a 34-year-old preschool teacher, and Cesar, a 34-year-old food stylist, crossed the finish line in Philadelphia, PA, in first place and therefore won $1 million.
Ricky and Cesar had traveled across eight countries, 14 cities and spanned 11,711 miles.
