The Amazing Race eliminated Sara Fowler and Shamir Arzeno during the first Season 29 broadcast of Thursday night's double-episode event on CBS.

Sara, a 27-year-old luxury realtor from St. John, Virgin Islands, and Shamir, a 28-year-old Wall Street banker from Jersey City, NJ, paired up on the first day of the Race when they were total strangers. They became the fourth team eliminated from the around-the-world competition when racing in Tanzania.

"I'm proud of her. I'm proud of the Race we ran. I'm really sad because, you know, I pictured myself winning the whole thing," Shamir said in his final words.

"It's tough running a race with someone you barely know. Even though it definitely wasn't a match made in heaven, I certainly haven't forgotten all of the incredible experiences that we did have. It's just been amazing," Sara added.

The fourth leg kicked off with Liz Espey, a 24-year-old auctioneer from Maryville, MO, and Michael Rado, a 37-year-old butcher from Pittsburgh, PA, ripping open the first set of clues in Tanzania in first place at 8:17AM.

They were instructed to make their way to the home of Farrokh Bulsara in Stone Town, "or another one bites the dust." What the teams didn't know was that Farrokh Bulsara was the original name of Freddie Mercury, the lead singer of Queen, whose childhood home had been demolished.

Tara Carr, a 38-year-old U.S. Army officer from Alexandria, VA, and Joey Covino, a 46-year-old police sergeant from Saugus, MA, left in second place at 8:27AM. On their heels were Vanck Zhu, a 28-year-old Wall Street analyst from New York, NY, and Ashton Theiss, a 25-year-old residential realtor from Fort Worth, TX, at 8:59AM.

Matt Ladley, a 25-year-old pro snowboarder from Denver, CO, and Redmond Ramos, a 28-year-old former U.S. Navy corpsman from Murrieta, CA, departed at 9:08AM. They were then followed by London Kaye, a 27-year-old artist from Brooklyn, NY, and Logan Bauer, a 27-year-old surgical consultant from Columbus, GA at 9:18AM; Scott Flanary, a 34-year-old recruiting manager from West Hollywood, CA, and Brooke Camhi, a 36-year-old criminal attorney from New York, NY, at 9:19AM; and Shamir and Sara at 9:40AM.

Becca Droz, a 26-year-old rock climbing instructor from Boulder, CO, and Floyd Pierce, a 21-year-old college drum major from Boulder, CO, departed the third Pit Stop in last place at 9:44AM.

Tara and Joey were the first team to find the cluebox at Freddie Mercury's former home, and they were then followed by Liz and Michael, Vanck and Ashton, Matt and Redmond, London and Logan, Brooke and Scott, Becca and Floyd, and then Shamir and Sara.

It then became time for the teams to complete one of two possible Detour tasks: "Lock" or "Knock."

"Lock" required the teams to look through dozens of Zanzibar chests, which each held a secret compartment. Once they found a key in one of those compartments, they'd have to open a corresponding locked chest to receive their next clue.

"Knock" required the teams to navigate the streets of Stone Town until they found three royal doors, identified by a carving of a lion, a serpent and a falcon. They'd then have to collect a wooden carving from each of the residences, and deliver them to a shop for their next clue.

The teams who opted to take on "Lock" were Liz and Michael, Matt and Redmond, Brooke and Scott, Becca and Floyd, and Shamir and Sara. The teams who chose to take on "Knock" were Vanck and Ashton, Tara and Joey, and London and Logan.

Tara and Joey as well as London and Logan, however, first attempted the "Lock" task and decided to switch because they weren't having any luck finding the key. Sara and Shamir endlessly searched for the doors and bickered the whole way.

After Shamir kept nagging Sara to switch tasks, she finally obliged and they went on to attempt searching through the chests. Vanck wanted to switch from the "Knock" task as well but Vanck made him stick with it.

Brooke and Scott vented to the cameras that they looked through over 100 chests, but they finally found the key and helped Becca and Floyd out. Brooke wasn't happy that Scott helped another team because she was desperate not to finish in last place.

By the time London and Logan decided to switch tasks, they were seemingly in last place, but a local woman knew exactly where all three of the royal doors were -- so they caught some good luck and a break.

After a lot of drama, Liz and Michael finished the Detour in first place, and they were then followed by Matt and Redmond, Brooke and Scott, Becca and Floyd, Vanck and Ashton, Tara and Joey, London and Logan, and Shamir and Sara.

The teams' next set of clues instructed them to leave the island of Zanzibar and travel by ferry back to the mainland of Tanzania to the city of Dar Es Salaam, where they'd need to find the metal shop.

All of the teams hopped on the same ferry except for Sara and Shamir, which put the team in dead last place.

Becca and Floyd arrived at the metal shop before any of the other teams. Brooke and Scott got there in seventh place, followed by Shamir and Sara in last place.

Once at the metal shop, it became time for one member from each team to complete a Roadblock task in which the Racers had to construct a metal ladle strainer by cutting out the metal, punching the holes, and pounding it into shape.

Becca took on the Roadblock task as well as Joey, Vanck, Brooke, Michael, Redmond, Logan, and Shamir.

Brooke cried because she wasn't strong enough to cut the metal or punch the holes, and Redmond, Michael and Becca all helped her out at one point.

Tara and Joey finished the Roadblock in first place. They were then followed by Becca and Floyd, Liz and Michael, London and Logan, Matt and Redmond, Vanck and Ashton, Brooke and Scott, and Shamir and Scott.

The teams then made their way to the Pit Stop at Coco Beach.

Tara and Joey stepped on the Pit Stop mat and met The Amazing Race host Phil Keoghan in first place. As a reward, each Racer won $5,000.

Becca and Floyd arrived at the Pit Stop in second place, followed by Liz and Michael in third place, Matt and Redmond in fourth place, London and Logan in fifth place, Vanck and Ashton in sixth place, and Brooke and Scott in seventh place. 

Shamir and Scott were eliminated in eighth -- and last -- place when Phil came to see them at the last task and deliver the bad news. They appeared to never arrive at the Pit Stop.
