The Apprentice contestant David Johnson has apparently given up attempting to reunite his family.

"Our relationship has developed into something quite special," Carlig told Star magazine in an interview published Thursday.
However Carlig, an unemployed 24-year-old recent Stanford graduate from Richmond, CA, told Star that viewers shouldn't expect to see an engagement ring on her finger anytime soon.
"Whoa! I'm still too young. Marriage is not happening anytime soon!" she said.
Johnson and Carlig are among the 13 contestants remaining on NBC's non-celebrity revival of The Apprentice, which was filmed this summer and began airing on the network in September.
While most of his competitors have cited the $250,000 job Donald Trump will award the season's winner as their reason for competing, The Apprentice's initial broadcasts have repeatedly shown Johnson, a 34-year-old unemployed telecommunications salesman from Portage, MI, citing a stronger motivation.
"I married my high-school sweetheart, we produced five beautiful children... I worked in telecom for 10 years... and when my customers stopped paying their bills a reduction in force happened and I was one of the victims," he told Trump during the show's premiere. "It cost me a marriage as well. The ultimate goal is to bring my family back together and it is why I'm here."
Carlig -- who graduated with a masters degree in sociology -- told Star she isn't concerned about Johnson's baggage or the couple's 10-year age gap.
"Dave is an energetic, passionate guy who can definitely keep up with me," she said.
