Thomas Jacobs was booted from Katie Thurston's The Bachelorette season for thinking about possibly becoming the next The Bachelor star, but Nick Viall apparently doesn't blame the guy for dreaming.

Not only did Thomas admit to appearing on the show to boost his career, but he also owned up to considering the possibility ABC may cast him as the Bachelor in 2022 if things didn't work out with Katie.
Katie scolded Thomas for being "selfish" and a manipulative "liar," but Nick, who starred on The Bachelor's 21st season, apparently feels the rest of Katie's bachelors were the ones who were lying.
"No one talks about it out of fear of what happens. It is bullsh-t, right? Every guy [has] thought about [being the Bachelor]," Nick said on Us Weekly's "Here for the Right Reasons" podcast.
"I don't know how it was before [because] in the past, I think people genuinely came for the experience, but social media has changed it."
Prior to starring on The Bachelor in 2017, Nick competed on both Andi Dorfman and Kaitlyn Bristowe's seasons of The Bachelorette, Seasons 10 and 11, respectively.
Nick finished as the runner-up both times and subsequently looked for love -- unsuccessfully -- on Season 3 of Bachelor in Paradise in 2016.
"What always happens is first your friends, like, they're excited you're on the show. And then your friends are like, 'Well, oh, my God, imagine you could even be the next Bachelor," Nick explained.
"And I honestly think everyone's sincere reaction to that and [mine was], like, 'No, that's never going to happen. That's crazy.' And that was my sincere thought too."
Nick recalled, "And I remember when Andi broke up with me and I'm in the Dominican Republic and I was just a mess, but I had a thought of... 'I mean, wow, Top 2, like, I wonder if I have a shot of being the Bachelor?' Of course, you think about that stuff."
If Nick's words ring true, Thomas was the only bachelor on Katie's season who was actually being honest about his thoughts.

"I don't have problems with anything Thomas said," Nick noted.

However, Katie felt in her gut that Thomas was using her as a stepping stone to reach his goals and didn't sincerely or genuinely care about getting to know her and falling in love on The Bachelorette.
After meeting Thomas in person during filming and watching The Bachelorette's seventeenth season back, Nick explained, "I do think they captured the spirit of Thomas. And that is a guy who's really just kind of, for whatever reason, maybe he's a bad guy or maybe he's too nervous [and] is kind of full sh-t."
"I think they accurately capture that. And again, I don't think Thomas is a bad guy, I'm sure he's a great guy."
Nick said he hopes Thomas will give the franchise another shot and appear on Bachelor in Paradise's seventh season this summer.
"I hope he's on Paradise. I think, you know, he will really mix it up there, but I think they accurately captured what was going on in the house with Thomas," Nick told Us.
Nick, after all, had actually encouraged Katie to check in with Thomas about his "red flags" after the group date in which Thomas confessed to not signing up for The Bachelorette with the intention of getting engaged to Katie.

Katie called out Thomas' name last at the Rose Ceremony, allowing him to believe he would be receiving a rose, but then she stepped back from him and angrily called him "unkind."
"Your Bachelor audition ends tonight, so get out," Katie said.
Katie gave her last rose to Season 16 The Bachelorette alum Blake Moynes instead.
