"You know, I don't think our lives have gone any closer than they were a year and a half ago," Ben admitted.
"Maybe if they were aligning or we were crossing paths, or we had spoken, I'd say 'Oh, there's a shot,' but we've continued to go like this. So I would say I don't see that path or that possibility happening at this point."
Ben starred on Season 20 of The Bachelor in 2016 and ended up proposing marriage to Lauren during the March finale.
It was widely believed Ben and Lauren were truly in love and going to make it long-term, but after more than one year together and starring in a spinoff called Ben & Lauren: Happily Ever After? on Freeform, the couple announced their decision to end their engagement in May 2017.
"It's weird. It's a really weird place, but I do, I hope for the best for her," Ben told ET before venting, "I don't want to talk about her break up anymore. Every time I talk about it, I feel it again or I think about it, and we're both good. We're doing our thing."

As for what Ben's "thing" currently is, he's focused on his Generous Coffee company, teasing that the company may expand into the tea market in the near future.
Ben arguably set himself up for questions about a possible Lauren reconciliation because when asked in late August whether he'd be open to sparking that flame again, he replied, "Well, you've got to talk to her!" according to People.
Lauren told the magazine back in June 2017 her breakup from Ben mainly came down to compatibility but there was no blowout fight or bad blood between them.
Reports circulated at the time, however, Lauren was unhappy with her life in Denver, CO, and she missed her loved ones in Los Angeles, CA, where she lived prior to filming The Bachelor.

While it took quite a while for Ben to get over the split and find himself ready to date again, Lauren moved on within a couple of months by getting romantically involved with Devin, whom she had met on Tinder prior to appearing on The Bachelor.

Ben was being considered to star on The Bachelor's upcoming 23rd season, but the position ultimately went to Colton Underwood, who appeared on both Becca Kufrin's season of The Bachelorette and Bachelor in Paradise 5.
It's unclear whether Ben turned down the opportunity or producers passed on the idea of him returning to the franchise for its 2019 edition.
