The Bachelor bachelorette Charity Lawson has revealed whether she'd say "yes" to starring on The Bachelorette's upcoming 20th season, if the opportunity presented itself.

"I think I would [accept the offer], yeah," Charity said on the February 14 episode of the "Bachelor Happy Hour" podcast.
"I think it takes a very special person to be in, kind of, the driver's seat in something like this. I think for me, obviously you guys can see my heart and how adamant I am about my journey."

The 26-year-old child and family therapist from Columbus, GA, therefore concluded, "And so, I feel like if it was to happen, it could be a good thing. So yeah, I would be open!"

During the same podcast appearance, co-hosts Becca Kufrin and Michelle Young expressed how Charity is their "favorite" from Zach Shallcross' The Bachelor season and would be their top pick for The Bachelorette's next leading lady.
Becca, who starred on The Bachelorette's fourteenth season in 2018, said, "I'm just going to say it: I hope you're not with Zach and I hope you're Bachelorette! I'm saying it right now!"
Michelle, who starred on Season 18 of the series in 2021, agreed and shouted, "Damn right!"
"Oh my gosh, we need a Bachelorette [like you]," Michelle said. "You have it all. You're so well-rounded, you're so sweet, you're such a hard worker, you're genuine, and I love that you just have perspective... I absolutely love it," Michelle explained.
Michelle added how Charity is "self-aware" and she'd love to see another woman of color star on the show.

"Campaign! [I'm] starting it now. We are campaigning!" Michelle exclaimed.
Charity revealed on the podcast that she never filled out an application to be on The Bachelor's 27th season, which is currently airing Monday nights at 8PM ET/PT on ABC.
"My best friend from high school, she actually nominated me," Charity shared.
"She's not a Bachelor fan by any means, but I watch it and I've seen several seasons -- [Peter Weber]'s, Hannah Brown's, and I've seen so many. But I never at any point said, 'Okay, I'm going to nominate myself for this.'"

Charity said she had gotten out of a toxic relationship two years prior and so her friend thought it would be the perfect time for Charity to compete on The Bachelor and hopefully find love again.
"A lot of people were happy I was no longer in this relationship, so they took advantage of that moment. She was like, 'I'm going to nominate you. I think you'd be perfect for it. You have a great personality.' I did not take her seriously... we're always goofing off," Charity explained.
But after Charity finished her Master's Degree, she received a call from producers and then went through the casting process last summer.
"I definitely had reservations [going into The Bachelor]. I was unsure of what the outcome would be or what would actually transpire. But for me, with the timing of everything, everything just kind of fell into place," Charity said.
She elaborated, "I remember right before the decision was made for me, everything was pointing to The Bachelor... I was like, 'You know what? If it's for me, it's for me. And if it's not, it's not.' That was kind of my mindset going into this; I wasn't going to force anything."

Charity said she believes "everything does happen for a reason, good or bad," and so she jumped into The Bachelor with a positive, optimistic mindset.
Charity, however, wasn't sold or smitten with Zach once filming began.

While she had watched Gabby Windey and Rachel Recchia's The Bachelorette season last year, Charity noted fans didn't see that much of Zach and so his The Bachelor casting came as a bit of a surprise to her.
"He seemed endearing and really charming and just, like, a good person," Charity recalled of watching Zach on The Bachelorette 19, adding that she felt "multiple emotions" when he was announced as The Bachelor star in September 2022.
"I wasn't like, 'Yay!' But I also wasn't like, 'I hate this choice.'"
On The Bachelor's latest episode, Zach tested positive for coronavirus during the cast's week in London. Zach therefore missed out on a one-on-one date with Charity.
Zach, however, still gave Charity a rose during the franchise's first-ever virtual Rose Ceremony.
Charity is now one of nine bachelorettes remaining heading into The Bachelor's sixth episode on February 27.
In terms of what she wants from her future husband, Charity told Becca and Michelle that she's looking for honesty, confidence, and a man who doesn't play games -- which are all qualities she found and loved in Zach.
For Becca and Michelle's part, Becca is engaged to Bachelor in Paradise alum Thomas Jacobs and they're in the process of planning their wedding.

Michelle is single after announcing her breakup from her The Bachelorette 18 winner Nayte Olukoya in June of last year.
