The Bachelor couple Joey Graziadei and Kelsey Anderson have explained why they're living with two roommates in Louisiana.

Joey, 29, lived in Hawaii and worked as a tennis pro before appearing on Charity Lawson's season of The Bachelorette, and then when his The Bachelor season was airing earlier this year, he was sleeping in the guest room of his sister Carly's Philadelphia home.

After Joey and Kelsey's engagement aired on The Bachelor's Season 28 finale in March, Joey decided to move to New Orleans, LA, to be with Kelsey, and he ultimately moved into the place Kelsey was already sharing with two female roommates.

Kelsey and Joey compared their living situation to the New Girl, on which Zooey Deschanel's character, Jessica Day, lives with three male roommates, during the June 10 episode of Jason Tartick's "Trading Secrets" podcast.

"I feel like I'm on a comedy sketch right now... There's three girls and one Joey!" The Bachelor star quipped.

Kelsey explained of their unique housing arrangement, "I was still working and so I was like, 'I've got to go back to my life. I'm not quitting my job.'"

"He was just living with his sister," she continued, "so I was like, 'You can move in with me.'"

Kelsey boasted, "I have a very big room, and my roommates were all in. They were like, 'We can't wait to get to know Joey!' It's funny when their boyfriends are over too, because it feels like Friends."

Kelsey said she's been paying about $1,200 for her place, including utilities, and that she and Joey share a big room in the house -- which has four bedrooms and three bathrooms -- as well as a "huge closet."

Joey clarified, "She takes up 90 percent of it. I've got a little... Joey corner in the basement, pretty much."

Joey has been keeping a lot of his belongings, such as his winter clothes, at Carly's home in Philadelphia.

Jason joked, "This is the most humble thing in the world. You guys are sharing the bedroom and the closet."

Joey explained how he didn't want to uproot Kelsey's life after The Bachelor because she went into filming thinking she only had a one-in-32 chance of getting engaged.

"So it would have been wrong of me to be like, 'We need to get you out of what your life was,' because she dropped her whole life to be a part of [The Bachelor]," Joey told Jason.

"And I knew that regardless of what was going to happen, my life was going to have to change and go somewhere else."

As a result, Joey said it was "a no-brainer" to pick New Orleans instead of searching for a new place, especially since Kelsey's dynamic with her close friends created "a great atmosphere" to walk into.

Joey also viewed moving in with his fiancee as a pretty elegant solution considering he travels often for pleasure and media appearances.

"In my situation, moving into my sister's [place] was strategic. I was living in Hawaii, and there's no way I could be living there with the amount I was going to be doing with the press, going from New York to L.A.," Joey explained.

"So, I was like, 'I need to either go find a new place, or I have to get into a place that's going to let me be able to travel pretty easily on the mainland.'"

Joey and Kelsey, however, will be leaving New Orleans in August once Kelsey's lease is up, and they are still planning to move to New York City.

"We are really excited for New York," Joey said on the "Trading Secrets" podcast.

"And it's close to family for me, too. We know that's where we want to go and end up and spend a few years there, but we don't know exactly when yet. It's up in the air, but I think I will be shocked if, by the end of this year, we're not living in New York City."

Joey pointed out how he and Kelsey have "so much going on right now" but they'd both be surprised if they're not in New York City by Christmas 2024.

It was apparently Kelsey's idea for the both of them to relocate to a new city together.

"I've always wanted to live there and Joey is supporting me in that," Kelsey told People earlier this year.

"We're young and I think now is the time to live in a tiny, cramped apartment together and experience it. Even if we hate it, at least we can say we did it."

Joey acknowledged that he thinks "it's going to be fun" living in the Big Apple.

"Anyone that knows me personally knows that beach, warm weather, all of that has been my vibe. I lived in Hawaii, but I've really come to love New York from the time I spent there," Joey explained, mainly referring to press he had to do in New York for the show.

"It does have a different feel. I've never lived in a big city. My family lives in Philly area and I have close friends [there], so the idea of being close to them finally is going to be great. I think it is the right time to do it, so we're excited."

During The Bachelor: After the Final Rose special that aired on March 25, Kelsey and Joey were also gifted a trip back to Jasper, Canada, where they were falling in love.

Joey and Kelsey did not mention when they intend to return to Canada, but Joey gushed of his fiancee on the live special, "I now have my 'forever,' and I'm the luckiest guy there could be... I don't know how I'm going to have a boring day of life with her by my side."

Joey proposed marriage to Kelsey during the Final Rose Ceremony in Tulum, Mexico.

Prior to their big moment, Joey and his The Bachelor runner-up Daisy Kent mutually broke up with each other.

Daisy had predicted during her final date with Joey in Mexico that she was not his "person" and vice versa, and so she gracefully bowed out of the Season 28 competition and congratulated both Joey and Kelsey on their love.

Joey and Kelsey previously said they'd like to have a long engagement and get married two or three years from now.
