The Bachelor's performance topped NBC's The West Wing by nearly a million total viewers (14.1 million versus 13.2) and by 45% in Adults 18-49 (6.4/16 versus 4.4/11). Fox's fall premiere of The O.C. finished fourth in the hour among total viewers (9.2 million) and third in Adults 18-49 (4.2/10).

The Bachelor was the No. 1 series on Wednesday night in Adults 18-49 (6.4/16) and Adults 18-34 (6.0/16) for the second consecutive week. The episode attracted the biggest audience yet for the fourth edition of the The Bachelor, generating ABC's largest audience in the time period in 8 months (since February 19, 2003).
