Chris Harrison apparently didn't see the split of Chris Soules and Whitney Bischoff coming at all.

"I was really sorry to hear this morning that Chris and Whitney had ended their engagement, obviously from our last show The Bachelor... He went on to do Dancing With the Stars and moved back to Iowa and I thought they had given it a go and were going back together but apparently not," The Bachelor host told Hallmark's Home & Family talk show Thursday in an interview that airs Friday, according to Us Weekly.
Harrison said he's been in contact with Soules since the breakup.
"I will admit I've texted Chris on and off today just letting him know I wish them both well and they're both good friends of mine and if there is anything I can do to help with," Harrison explained.
"And that's one of the things that's odd about the show. I know it is television and I know there are silly things that go on, but, to me, they are also real people. They're just two kids that were hopefully going to get married and they're not now and that's sad... they're still two people going through a breakup, so it's still tough. I wish them the best."

Only two months after The Bachelor's nineteenth-season finale aired during which Soules, a 33-year-old farmer from Iowa, proposed to Bischoff, a 29-year-old former fertility nurse, the couple released a joint statement to the media confirming they've decided to call off their engagement and end their relationship.
"Whitney Bischoff and Chris Soules have mutually and amicably decided to end their engagement," the pair said in the statement. "They part with nothing but respect and admiration for one another and will continue to be supportive friends. They wish to thank everyone who has supported them through this journey."
Rumors of a split had been circulating for weeks before it happened. Multiple sources had come forward and said Bischoff didn't appreciate Soules' new obsession with fame. He was reportedly completely wrapped up in his Dancing with the Stars stint and the idea of being a celebrity, while Bischoff just wanted to start their life and maybe a family back on his Arlington farm.
"I'm truly sorry to learn that Chris and Whitney have ended their engagement," Harrison told E! News yesterday. "I consider them both friends and will do anything I can to support them during a tough time."
