ABC also announced it has renewed Dancing with the Stars for the 2013-2014 season, however it will no longer feature a Tuesday night results show and each week's elimination results will now be folded into the ballroom dancing competition's two-hour Monday night broadcasts.
Shark Tank's new season will be part of ABC's fall schedule and air in the show's current Fridays at 9PM ET/PT time period while The Bachelor will, as is customary, debut in midseason. Similar to The Bachelor, The Taste will also premiere sometime later in the 2013-14 season.
While The Bachelor's eighteenth-season renewal and Shark Tank's fifth-season renewal were expected, ABC's second-season pickup of The Taste, a reality cooking competition the network premiered in January, is a surprise.
The Taste's first-season finale, which aired on March 12 and featured Khristianne Uy winning the competition's grand prize package, drew only 3.5 million total viewers.
The Quest, which is being produced by The Lord of the Rings movie franchise producer Mark Ordesky and The Amazing Race producers Bertram van Munster and Elise Doganieri, is scheduled to debut in midseason and air Sundays at 8PM when ABC's returning Once Upon a Time drama takes a hiatus.
The reality adventure competition will "take twelve lucky contestants on the journey of a lifetime when they enter the world of Everealm," a "fantastic world... where players will engage in epic challenges" and one player "emerges as a real-life hero," according to ABC.
