The Bachelor will break new ground given Colton Underwood's finale is going to be unlike anything viewers have ever seen before, but according to host Chris Harrison, filming the 2019 season's dramatic conclusion also left producers in unknown territory.

"Inevitably something's going to happen we've never dealt with before, and I never know what that is when we go into a season. It always just finds its way," Harrison told Entertainment Tonight.

For Colton's season, the 26-year-old charity founder and former professional football player reportedly quits towards the end of the process and runs away from the production team.

"From the fence leap on, the show is turned upside down," Harrison teased.

But the fence jump when Colton allegedly quits the series can't be all that goes down!

Harrison, Colton and ABC executive Robert Mills previously teased the season's ending will leave viewers gasping for air with their hearts racing.

"What you have to do as a producer is realize it's a very fluid situation, and you gotta go with it. It's a scary way to produce a show," Harrison explained.

Mills told ET earlier this month the finale is "insane," goes "off the rails," and will land in "the pantheon of strange" endings.

And Harrison recently expressed how Colton's season is "gut-wrenching" and "unpredictable."

"You hope it ends in a proposal, but you don't know. And you're standing there with these two individuals who are looking at each other, hoping, and you don't know," Harrison shared.

"Same thing with Colton. When things go sideways, you try to put it back on the tracks, but you also have to let it go."

Mills confirmed that like Arie Luyendyk Jr.'s season of The Bachelor, cameras continued rolling after the taping schedule concluded to make sure an accurate update could be given to Bachelor Nation by the time After the Final Rose comes around.

"The lesson is always that you have to let it play out real... We still have to fill 20-something hours of television, but we've always been rewarded when we've let it play out and not as a game where there are rules that have to be stuck to," Mills told ET last week.

"This finale is so different... that it's important for us, for the audience, to let it play out for them."

The Bachelor will air its seventh Season 23 episode on February 18 at 8PM ET/PT on ABC and only seven women are still in the running for Colton's heart and final rose.

The Bachelor's Season 23 finale will air as a two-night event on Monday, March 11 and Tuesday, March 12, with both broadcasts airing from 8-10PM ET/PT on ABC.
