The Bachelor star Joey Graziadei has opened up about why his insecurities hit him so hard and he got so emotional during his time in Canada.

When Joey and his cast of bachelorettes touched down in Montreal, Canada, Joey found himself struggling in the process instead of feeling excited and optimistic about his week of dates ahead.

When asked what was going through his mind at that point, Joey revealed on the February 29 episode of the "Bachelor Happy Hour" podcast, "I think it's a lot of things."

"I think obviously the first step of it was that I was tired," Joey explained to the podcast's co-hosts, Bachelor in Paradise spouses Joe Amabile and Serena Pitt.

"It was getting to that point where things were kind of piling on top of each other, and you feel drained emotionally and physically and all of that."

Joey said he "didn't want to hide that" from viewers and the women because he didn't want to pretend that everything was "good" and he was always "fine."

The Bachelor star shared, "I think it's more important to be honest on where you're having difficulties."

"But I think the most important reason why I was so emotional and vulnerable was because," he continued, "as anyone knows from the contestant side [of this show] -- just like for a lead -- your insecurities come out when things start to get serious."

Joey said he could feel the process becoming more intense and the women becoming more invested in him.

"That was the week when the women were starting to feel things on their own," The Bachelor star noted.

"Conversations were coming and I could feel they were coming... You could just feel that the next step of where the next conversation was going, [it] was going to be deep and emotional and personal."

Joey said he anticipated that the women were going to say "why they had feelings -- if they had feelings."

"So I think I just felt the pressure and the weight of that week," he elaborated. "And when I started off the week, I didn't know if I could handle that pressure and that weight because I was trying to get back to feeling good with myself in that moment."

Joey told Joe and Serena that "for lack of a better explanation," he was simply having "an off day" in Montreal and it was "caught on-camera."

"So that's really what it was, and I try not to hide away or shy away from sharing it," Joey shared.

Joey also confirmed that traveling internationally was exhausting, especially because they had just touched down in Europe, with two stops in Malta and Spain.

"We had that long trip back to Montreal," Joey recalled.

"We had a bit of a break, but yeah, I think all of the women would admit, too, that that was one of the toughest weeks... I think it triggers something when you get a little more tired, but that was a tough week."

Joey acknowledged, "That was maybe one of the most emotional times you'll see me, was that week. I lived it. I knew it was coming [on TV]."

However, Joey also revealed that his favorite one-on-one dates of the season took place in Jasper with Daisy Kent and Kelsey Anderson, so all the traveling was clearly worth it.

Joey admitted on The Bachelor's 28th season that he was battling insecurities and fears mainly because he was starting to fall for multiple women at once.

"It scares me. I find myself holding back in some ways, and I don't like it -- I don't want to," Joey shared with The Bachelor cameras.

"There are some women here that I'm scared to death would go home if I started to share how I'm feeling and they didn't feel the same way, or they had this realization, 'This isn't right.'"

Joey admitted that he was scared the process wasn't "going to end up working out" for him, for some reason.

"The last time I really opened up was with [Charity Lawson on The Bachelorette], and I left heartbroken. I felt so lost after that," Joey vented in a confessional.

Joey also pointed out how he's not usually an energetic person and sometimes it's hard for him to be fun and light.

"Sometimes people expect you to be a certain way, and I'm like, 'Is that really me?'" The Bachelor star confessed.

"I don't feel like I need to be perfect; I feel like people expect me to be. Most of my life I've been struggling with the fact I don't feel perfect. I feel like there's a lot wrong with me, and you try to work through it, but it's tough."

Joey explained on the show how he's always been his biggest and toughest critic, adding, "I'm afraid of someone not accepting me for me. And I don't know what that is; I'm still trying to figure that out. I have some type of deep feeling that this might not work out."

The Bachelor's next episode airing on Monday, February 4 at 8PM ET/PT will feature Joey visiting the hometowns of his Final 4 bachelorettes: Daisy, Kelsey A., Maria Georgas, and Rachel Nance.

It appears Joey will have to face some tough questions from family members as the bachelorettes will also have to face their feelings and confront of the possibility of getting hurt in the end.
