The Bachelor star Matt James has been accused of lying about his romantic relationship with Rachael Kirkconnell being over and downplaying the seriousness of his relationship with another woman.

After The Bachelor's Season 25 star and Rachael -- who split in February over Rachael's racism scandal -- were spotted together in New York City last week, reports suddenly swirled Matt had no desire to date Rachael again and was just looking to remain friendly with her.

A source told E! News on Friday that a love-stricken Rachael pushed Matt to hang out, and another insider told Us Weekly that Rachael hoped to resume a serious relationship with Matt and he was the one "hesitant to take her back."
But according to Reality Steve spoiler blogger Steve Carbone, those sources were actually just spinning Matt's narrative and The Bachelor star actually had every intention of reconciling with Rachael until she discovered Matt had attempted to hook up with another woman only two days earlier.

"[Matt] has been up Rachael's ass for three weeks," Carbone argued in a Friday Instagram Live video, adding, "[He's] been telling Rachael he wants to be back together with her and he wants to have a relationship with her."
Carbone insisted reports Matt was hanging out with Rachael in New York as friends "couldn't be further from the truth" and he has text-message "evidence" to show Matt's camp has been lying.
"One side is trying to cover their ass, and that's Matt's side, clearly," Carbone claimed.
"The narrative him and his camp are spinning in the media right now is gaslighting, it's manipulative and it's bullsh-t... He's trying to cover his ass."
According to Carbone, Matt kept "talking and FaceTiming every single day" with Rachael after The Bachelor: After the Final Rose finale aired on ABC in March.

Matt, who allegedly paid for Rachael's ticket to visit him in New York and stay at his place, "has told Rachael specifically over and over and over again he's in love with her, he wants to be with her, and he wants to make it work out," Carbone reported.

But just two days before Matt and Rachael reunited in New York on Tuesday, April 6, Matt allegedly spent time in Miami, FL, and reached out to a girl he had previously dated on Sunday, April 4.
"[Matt] was trying to hook up with a girl named Grace," Carbone revealed.
Matt reportedly texted Grace to come see him before he left Florida allegedly knowing Rachael would be visiting him in New York "not as friends" about 48 hours later.

"He has a past with Grace. That past, once he was with Rachael, never overlapped because he basically ghosted Grace once he got on [The Bachelor]... But after Matt and Rachael broke up around Valentine's Day, he immediately hit Grace back up... [for a booty call]. Let's call it what it is," Carbone said.
Grace, however, reportedly turned down Matt's invitation to hang out and potentially hook up.
Once Grace heard about Matt and Rachael's reunion in New York, she reportedly texted Matt to confirm the news on Wednesday night.
Matt allegedly called Grace on the phone when he left his apartment alone to pick up sushi and firmly denied that Rachael was staying with him.
"Matt was flat out lying to [Grace's] face... He called Grace back and said, 'I would never try and get with you Sunday night if that were the case,'" Carbone claimed.

In attempt to protect Rachael, Carbone said he contacted a source close to The Bachelor bachelorette to share his surprising findings about Matt and Grace.

The source informed Rachael of Matt's alleged secrecy on Thursday, April 8, according to Carbone, and then Rachael confronted Matt.
Matt allegedly promised that Grace didn't mean anything to him and he had just contacted Grace because he needed another person to fill out his table during a night out in Miami.
"Not true, because when Grace told him, 'I'm not going to see you,' on Sunday night [and] 'I don't want to go to a party,' [Matt] said, 'Well, maybe we can have time to ourselves,'" Carbone recalled.
"So it was clear Matt wanted to be with her on Sunday night, but she never did."
The spoiler blogger added, "I just want to applaud Matt on the effort he's putting into playing two women at the same time."
Despite Matt's denial about Grace, "Rachael essentially walked out on Matt and [said], 'We're done,'" according to Carbone.
"Matt got caught with his pants down and she left and called her [The Bachelor] girls and hung out with them... She left Matt's apartment in a huff very upset and crying," Carbone said.
Rachael also reportedly contacted Grace directly to compare stories and the two women ultimately determined Matt had been playing them both.

Since the scandal broke, Matt allegedly unfollowed and blocked Grace on social media, and Carbone acknowledged it would be "hard to believe" that Rachael could trust Matt again because he had "lied directly to her face" multiple times about his intentions with Grace.
Carbone also conducted a subsequent Instagram Live session on Friday in which Grace joined him for a chat and verified all of the information he had reported about her and Matt was accurate.
"I saw that Matt was trying to get back together with Rachael and it just didn't sit right with me. Like, Rachael was so in love with him, and for him trying to contact me and hang out with me -- someone who has had past romantic relationships with -- two days prior in Miami, it just didn't sit right with me," Grace explained.
Grace said Rachael deserved to be made aware of Matt's actions and so she reached out to Carbone to share her story.
"I feel like Rachael is really the victim here. I'm completely fine... [but] when guys are two-timing you, it's just not okay," Grace noted.
"It's just not okay... I hope [Rachael] finds someone better... At a certain point when you start changing your character and lying and gaslighting and doing all of these things to protect your image and your fame, that's sort of when I have an issue. All power to you if you go on the show for fame, but in Matt's case, it got to a point where it was a little too much."

Matt announced on The Bachelor: After the Final Rose special last month that he had decided to break up with Rachael shortly after she publicly apologized in February for her racially-ignorant and racially-insensitive actions in the last several years.
Matt previously said he wanted to give Rachael some time and space for her to educate herself and "put in the work" to become better.
Matt said during an appearance on The Bill Simmons Podcast last month, "You hear people harping on forgiveness and I forgave her when she told me [about her mistakes], but that doesn't mean I'm not disappointed and I don't want her to do better."
According to an Us source, Matt believed that Rachael isn't a racist but he thought it "wasn't a good look for him to stay with her."
Matt had suggested in multiple interviews, however, he wasn't necessarily permanently closing the door on his relationship with Rachael, who has called Matt "the love of my life" and previously defended The Bachelor star against bullying and harassment.
