The Bachelor's 2020 finale featured Peter Weber getting engaged to Hannah Ann Sluss, but then dumping Hannah Ann due to his lingering feelings for Madison Prewett and getting back together with Madison despite his mom Barbara's bitter disapproval of the relationship!

Part 2 of The Bachelor's Season 24 finale was definitely unlike anything viewers have ever seen before.

"He's going to have to fail to succeed," Peter's mother Barbara Weber said of her son's attempt at a relationship with Madison. "That's it. All of his friends, all of his family -- everyone that knows him knows it's not going to work."

"I am telling you that I love Madison, and that should be enough. Listen, please," Peter begged.

The Bachelor Season 24 Finale Part 2

The Bachelor broadcast began with Peter's last day of his journey to find love in Alice Springs, Australia.

Peter said Madison leaving had been really rough for him but true love would always rise above all.

"I know what I have with Hannah Ann, and that's true love. I've put her through a lot, but the love you find with your person is stronger than anything... and now I see that I've found that person," Peter said in a confessional.

"She gives me so much confidence that that love I've always wanted truly does exist, and right now, it just feels real and right with Hannah Ann."

Peter said he was "so incredibly in love with Hannah Ann" and wanted to choose her every single day for the rest of his life. He therefore met with jeweler Neil Lane and picked out a diamond engagement ring.

Peter then FaceTimed with Hannah Ann's father and asked for his blessing to propose marriage, and Peter received it.

But Hannah Ann woke up that morning with mixed emotions. She wanted validation she had found her person but had no doubt in her love for Peter.

Hannah Ann, however, had reached a breaking point because Peter saying his heart was being pulled in two different directions was like a "knife" through her heart.

Hannah Ann was tired of giving and giving while getting nothing in return. Hannah Ann wanted a man to be sure of her, and she wasn't convinced Peter was there.

"Everything in me just wants to put up my guard and just tap out," Hannah Ann said in a confessional.

It then became time for the Final Rose Ceremony, and The Bachelor host Chris Harrison approached Peter before it began.

Chris said, "There's something I just found out about Hannah Ann. To be honest, I'm not positive she's coming."

"What?!" Peter exclaimed. "Oh my God."

Peter asked if Hannah Ann knew Madison was gone, but Chris said she wouldn't have known that unless Peter had informed her. Peter said he felt like he was going to pass out and basically had a panic attack. It was the last thing he wanted to hear.

However, Hannah Ann eventually arrived at the Final Rose Ceremony, and Peter took a big sigh of relief.

But Hannah Ann walked up to Peter as if she was about to get dumped. Peter saying his heart had been torn in different directions the night prior made Hannah Ann second guess what was going to happen that day.

When Peter and Hannah Ann reunited, he had tears in his eyes and told the bachelorette she looked so beautiful.

"Hannah Ann, I remember that very first night when I had to give out that First Impression Rose. There was never a question for me who I was giving it to. And then from all the memories we've been able to make, I cherished every single moment I've been able to spend with you," Peter said.

"I know I told you that I was falling for you and I've told you that my heart was being torn in different directions, and now I have to follow my heart. So, Madison, she actually left two days ago."

Peter then gushed, "Hannah Ann, your beautiful spirit is honestly unlike anything I've ever seen before. You are thoughtful, you are caring, you are selfless, you are passionate -- and above all else, you are one of a kind, and my heart chooses you forever."

Peter then finally said those three important words.

"I love you, Hannah Ann, and the love that you've shown me is all that I'd ever want, and I never want to let you go," Peter noted.

"You love me?!" Hannah Ann asked. "Oh my God!"

"Of course I do. I love you. I love you. I love you," Peter said after hugging Hannah Ann and kissing her hand.

Peter then got down on one knee and asked Hannah Ann, "Will you marry me?"

"Yes!" Hannah Ann yelled. "I get to love you forever! This is amazing!"

Peter asked Hannah Ann to accept his final rose, and she giggled with glee and called it a dream come true. Peter had always said he wanted to find a woman who wanted him as badly as he wanted her, and Peter said he had found that in Hannah Ann.

Peter's family celebrates his engagement to Hannah Ann

Following his marriage proposal, an engaged Peter flew from Australia to Los Angeles, CA, to visit with his family again.

Peter's family had no idea what to expect and knew nothing about his final decision, so he was excited to share his big news, knowing they'd be "absolutely thrilled."

When Peter walked in the door, his mother Barbara immediately started to cry.

Peter's parents noticed he looked so happy, and then Peter shared he had gotten engaged to his "person" -- and that person was Hannah Ann.

Barbara screamed with happiness and cried, and she was nearly shaking after hearing how she thought Peter's love story had ended.

Barbara gushed about how much the family loved Hannah Ann, and then Peter FaceTimed with Hannah Ann so the family could congratulate her as well.

Peter's parents told Hannah Ann on the phone they loved her and already considered her a daughter.

Peter then joined The Bachelor host Chris Harrison live onstage. Peter said getting engaged to Hannah Ann was an amazing day and a very special moment, but he admitted he wasn't completely over Madison at the time.

Peter struggled to put his feelings for Madison behind him.

Footage then flashed back to what was apparently supposed to be one of Peter and Hannah Ann's happy secret visits with each other. It had been a month since they last saw each other, and Hannah Ann acknowledged things had been "hard" for them up to that point.

Peter told Hannah Ann she had been "the most amazing rock" and he was "so thankful" for her. Hannah Ann promised to continue being that for Peter as long as that's what he wanted as well.

Peter claimed he had been honest with Hannah Ann about everything, but he looked distraught.

"I have no doubt I had fallen in love with you and am in love with you, for so many reasons. And I'm just struggling, you know?" Peter asked.

"It just kills me to put you through this and see you give everything and have me be where I'm at. I hate that."

Hannah Ann said that when she had accepted Peter's marriage proposal, she said "yes" to them being teammates and a partnership who would work through things together. But Hannah Ann said if Peter couldn't love her the way that she loved him, then that wasn't a relationship she wanted.

Peter said he never intended to give his heart to two people and had been battling so much pain. Peter apparently hid nothing from Hannah Ann and was surprised she had never left him.

Hannah Ann flat out asked Peter if he could give her his entire heart, and Peter said that although she deserved that and much more, he couldn't offer her that.

"I can't do that. I'm so sorry," Peter said.

Hannah Ann cried and was so upset Peter couldn't give her his whole heart.

"You took away from me my first engagement. You took that away from me because I trusted you, and that's what you have continued to ask me to do -- 'Be patient with me. Have faith in me. Trust in me,'" Hannah vented.

Barbara was shown watching the footage and shaking her head with disappointment and tears in her eyes.

Hannah Ann then walked away from Peter, who was left crying on a couch.

Peter repeated, "I'm so sorry," to Hannah Ann, who was clearly pissed off at this point.

"You just let me go. You are taking [my engagement ring] away from me," Hannah Ann shouted with her ring in her hand.

Peter felt guilty for taking that moment away from Hannah Ann and confusing her and making her deal with him. And he said he was sorry from the bottom of his heart.

"[Sorry] for not being man enough to follow through with your words?" Hannah Ann asked. "For not being true to your words and not being true to your feelings?"

Peter swore to God he never envisioned this happening or having this conversation.

"Why is it happening now?" Hannah Ann asked.

"Because I'm trying to be as honest with myself and as honest with you as I possibly can. Because I haven't been able to give my entire heart to you, and you know why that is," Peter explained.

Hannah Ann was annoyed with Peter being so conflicted, as usual, and she was angry at him for taking such a precious moment away from her. Hannah Ann said Peter should've just sent her home, and she couldn't even look at him anymore.

Hannah Ann said she wanted a man who would be true to his words -- not someone who's torn and conflicted "90 percent of the time." Hannah Ann accused him of having done "enough damage," to her and other women.

Hannah Ann then handed her engagement ring back to Peter and snapped, "We're done -- and I mean that."

Barbara clapped for Hannah Ann after watching that scene back from the audience. Peter chased after Hannah Ann again, but she said she felt betrayed enough and didn't want to hear what else he had to say since his words basically meant nothing.

Hannah Ann at least thanked Peter for owning up to having betrayed her, and she said she planned to get her life back on track -- where it was before appearing on The Bachelor.

"I'm strong and I've been my own rock throughout this, and you don't have to worry about me," Hannah Ann cried.

With that being said, Peter walked Hannah Ann to a car, and she put her hand in front of Peter's face when entering the car.

"Leave," Hannah Ann snapped. "Bye!"

Hannah Ann blasts Peter and tells him to become "a real man"

Peter then told Chris on the hot seat his breakup with Hannah Ann tore his heart out.

"Was it your feelings for Madison that led you to that decision to break up?" Chris asked.

"A little bit, yeah. It wasn't all, but a little bit. The biggest thing was that I couldn't match what she was giving me, and that wasn't fair," Peter admitted.

Hannah Ann then joined Peter onstage, but she rolled her eyes at the thought of seeing her ex-fiance again.

Hannah Ann said things felt off with Peter prior to their breakup conversation but she was definitely blindsided by his rejection. Hannah Ann reminded Peter that he had said letting her walk away would be the biggest regret in his life.

Hannah Ann therefore accused Peter of not meaning what he says or not understanding the weight of his words and how they impact people.

"Which one is it? Because you knew how serious I was about an engagement, and you knew me saying 'yes' to you, I was always going to stand by you, even through the worse. And you told me things that kept me with you," Hannah Ann revealed.

"Even after our breakup, you reached out to my parents saying you were just processing your emotions and that you wish more than anything we had met outside of reality TV. How does that make any sense? You had signed up to be the Bachelor."

Hannah Ann said Peter had led her to believe she should fight for him and their relationship, and Peter admitted that was totally "fair." Peter also confessed he meant it when he said letting Hannah Ann walk away would be the biggest regret of his life.

Peter insisted he really did love Hannah Ann or else he never would have proposed. Peter said it killed what he had taken away from her and he had never felt a love like what she had shown him.

Hannah Ann said she didn't know the extent of how much Peter had struggled in Australia and wished he had told her before the Final Rose Ceremony. Hannah Ann also accused Peter of downplaying his feelings and emotions for Madison, which resulted in her getting blindsided.

Hannah Ann wished she was aware of what she was actually saying "yes" to when Peter proposed.

Peter insisted he had done his best with the cards he was dealt but was mourning another relationship and had no time to grieve like a person would in the normal world.

However, Peter feared letting a perfect girl like Hannah Ann -- who showed him so much love -- go just because of the pain he was going through, which he believed at the time was going to be temporary.

Peter thought his heart was going to heal down the line, but Hannah Ann said if he had been honest with her about where he stood, she would have been convinced he was not ready for a commitment with her.

"You know the outcome would've been different. You know that deep down, and that's the most hurtful part -- is that you didn't respect me enough just to sit me down and have that open conversation with me, to tell me exactly where your heart was at prior to me saying 'yes' to something I had no idea I was walking into," Hannah Ann said.

Peter told Hannah Ann she was absolutely right and he wished he had done things differently. Peter could say nothing other than apologize.

Hannah Ann then had the final say, and her words weren't pretty or gentle.

"Peter, we've been through a lot together, and I should've really picked up on the first red flag that you gave to me, was when you wanted to reach out to Hannah Brown to find closure with her," Hannah Ann disclosed.

"So really, looking back on it, our engagement involved three women -- me, you still being in love with Madison and proposing to me, and you needing closure with Hannah Brown... I was completely blindsided. Word of advice: If you want to be with a woman, you need to become a real man."

Barbara applauded for Hannah Ann after the bachelorette spoke her mind.

Madison tells Chris she'd like another chance with Peter

Peter confirmed once Hannah Ann walked off the stage that he still didn't know how his season was going to end.

Chris then revealed he had taken it upon himself to track Madison down in Auburn, AL, and the pair had a conversation on camera. It marked the first time Chris had seen Madison since she left Australia, and Madison admitted things had been hard.

Madison said she was trying not to live in the past but she could barely eat or sleep after her breakup with Peter. As Madison opened her heart, Barbara appeared to give the bachelorette a dirty look while watching from the live audience.

"So you regret what you did?" Chris asked.

"Yeah, I do," Madison replied. "Yeah. And I'll be the first to admit if I was presented with the same situation, I would've done things differently."

Madison asked Chris what happened after she left Australia, and Chris shared that Peter had gotten engaged. Madison immediately started to cry and appeared to be in distress.

Chris shared that Peter had no idea about their meeting but he felt compelled to tell Madison that Peter is single and had ended his engagement to Hannah Ann. Madison said the news broke her heart but was good to hear at the same time. She clearly had mixed emotions.

"Are you in love with Peter?" Chris asked.

"I mean, like, I know I fell in love with him and those feelings have not gone away. But I don't know where his head is at or what is going on in his mind right now. I guess it's just a little confusing to me," Madison responded.

Chris said that while Madison had kept Peter in her heart all this time, the pilot had done the same.

"He ended his engagement for you," Chris revealed.

Madison asked Chris what Peter wanted, and Chris said in Peter's dream, the Bachelor would be with her.

Madison admitted she was shaking and said if she could have a second chance with Peter, she'd "take it in a heartbeat."

"This is your second chance. So what you are going to do?" Chris asked.

"I guess we're heading to L.A.," Madison gushed in reply. "A second chance."

Peter and Madison reunite

Footage then showed Peter and Madison reuniting by a pool, and Peter had a shocked expression on his face because he had been expecting Chris to show up. As Barbara watched the scene unfold, her face looked pissed as ever.

Peter told Madison he thought his heart was going to beat out of his chest, and the pair embraced.

Peter asked Madison why she sought him out, and Madison said she had fallen for him and that never changed. She said she struggled with their breakup long after it happened and never found the closure she had been hoping for.

"I know I just still have so much love in my heart for you," Madison revealed.

Peter admitted he had made "a million and one mistakes" but knew he had fallen in love with her. Peter apologized for messing up repeatedly and claimed he hadn't fallen out of love with her either.

Peter and Madison had both hurt each other, and Madison noted they couldn't change the past, but it seemed like they both wanted a future together.

"So what do we do?" Peter asked, prompting just a smile and a laugh from Madison.

That meeting was apparently the last time Peter had seen Madison, but the Bachelor confirmed he was still in love with her.

Chris therefore welcomed Madison onstage so the pair could talk, and Madison gushed, "I love Peter, and that hasn't changed since that day in Australia... The care we have for one another is so evident and obvious."

Madison said Peter's choices at the end of The Bachelor were a lot to take in and process, but she still had so much love in her heart for him that never went away.

"So how is this going to end?!" Chris questioned.

Peter announced while he and Madison both had some healing to do, they had a mutual love and respect for each other. Peter was happy to just be sitting next to Madison again.

"Do you want to give this relationship a real shot?" Chris asked Peter.

"I think we both know how we feel about each other, and I think let's take it one step at a time -- one day at a time. That's probably the smartest way to go about this," Peter said, adding that he had never lost his feelings for Madison.

Peter anticipated he and Madison would have an "uphill" battle.

Peter's mom Barbara blasts Madison and blames Madison for her behavior

Chris asked Barbara how she was feeling watching all of this unfold right before her eyes, and Peter's mother said she had embraced Hannah Ann because the bachelorette was just so loving towards her and organic.

Barbara said the family's meeting with Madison started out rocky because Madison had made them wait three hours. After Barbara, Peter Weber Sr. and Jack Weber traveled to a different country, Madison allegedly didn't want to see them.

Barbara said Madison never apologized for making them wait and said "no" when asked if she was madly in love with Peter. Madison also allegedly said she wouldn't accept a marriage proposal in four days.

"How do you expect a mother who loves her son with all of her heart to take that? My whole family... you didn't see that," Barbara told Peter.

Barbara explained she wanted Hannah Ann for her son so badly because the family had "clicked" with her immediately and had no connection with Madison.

Madison takes the high road and Peter begs his mom to give Madison a chance

Madison was given a chance to respond, and she said "it is what it is" and a lot of what happened was out of her control. Madison said she remained true to herself throughout the entire journey and still had love and respect for Peter's family.

Madison insisted she didn't have a negative word to say about anybody, and Peter assured viewers his family had his best interests at heart.

Peter said his family's biggest worry and concern was that Madison did not reciprocate his feelings, but Peter announced, "I know how she feels for me, and I know how I feel for her."

Peter asked his parents to give Madison a chance because he loved her and she's "the most amazing person" he's ever met.

Peter's mom Barbara insists Madison and Peter will not work out

Barbara argued that while Peter gave his heart to two women, only one bachelorette gave her heart to Peter, and that was Hannah Ann.

"I disagree," Madison interjected.

"I think this isn't just Peter's journey. When you sign up to come on a show like this, you are looking for love too. This wasn't just Peter looking for his wife... This is my journey too. This isn't just Peter choosing me; This is me choosing Peter."

But Barbara got the last word!

When Chris asked Barbara how they could turn the page so Madison and Peter would be supported, that's when Barbara replied, "He's going to have to fail to succeed. That's it... It's not going to work."

Peter repeated, "I am telling you that I love Madison, and that should be enough. Listen, please."

Chris asked Peter Sr. for his opinion, and Peter's father admitted he hated the situation and so many obstacles stood in Peter and Madison's way. Peter Sr. acknowledged it was a tough way to start a relationship.

Peter Sr. added his son and Madison had so many differences to overcome and the beginning of a relationship should be "the brightest spot."

Madison shared her relationship was between Peter and herself and they'd try their best to work things out.

The broadcast concluded with Chris welcoming the new The Bachelorette star, Clare Crawley, onstage. She called the opportunity "surreal" and said she'd never give up on love.
