The Bachelor star Peter Weber's mom Barbara Weber blasted Madison Prewett and her son's decision to reunite with her after ending his engagement to Hannah Ann Sluss during the 2020 season's finale.

Tuesday night's finale of The Bachelor's 24th season showed Barbara screaming with happiness and crying after learning Peter had proposed marriage to Hannah Ann. She was nearly shaking and told Hannah Ann over FaceTime she already considered the bachelorette to be her daughter.

Barbara's world therefore seemingly came crashing down when she watched footage of Peter ending his engagement because he still had lingering feelings for Madison, who broke Peter's heart by quitting the competition before the Final Rose Ceremony.
Peter told Hannah Ann that he couldn't give her his entire heart and she deserved so much more than that. As Barbara watched the breakup, she appeared angry and so disappointed in her son.

"Was it your feelings for Madison that led you to that decision to break up?" The Bachelor host Chris Harrison asked Peter live during Tuesday night's broadcast.
"A little bit, yeah. It wasn't all, but a little bit. The biggest thing was that I couldn't match what she was giving me, and that wasn't fair," Peter admitted.
But Chris did some matchmaking behind the scenes by tracking Madison down in Alabama and informing her Peter was single again. As Madison opened her heart on camera, Barbara gave the bachelorette a dirty look while watching the footage back from the live audience.
Madison -- who admitted she could barely eat or sleep after her breakup with Peter -- admitted she regretted leaving Peter and would absolutely want to give their relationship a second chance.
Peter unsurprisingly was up for it, and so the pair reunited live on the finale and decided to give their romance another shot.

Chris asked Barbara how she felt about Peter and Madison's reconciliation.
"Chris, of course I have my feelings and, you know, the show last night, it didn't show everything," she began.
"And I've gotten a lot of love, let me say, on my DMS, I've gotten a lot of love on that one -- but I will say, when I went for Hannah Ann, it was because she was the one who embraced me with love. She was so organic. She was just so loving towards me," Barbara shared.
"I was just into her so much. We just loved her," Barbara said of Hannah Ann.

"The next day, we met Madison and it started on a rocky road because she had us wait three hours for her to come in."
"She didn't want to meet us," Barbara claimed.
"So we were there three hours. We had just come across the country -- or excuse me, across the world -- and we were exhausted and we were just getting used to the time there. And we had to wait three hours."
"When she did come in, the whole family, we didn't get an apology from her, and when I proceeded to ask her if she was madly in love with my son, she said, 'No,' and that she would not accept a proposal in four days."
Barbara went on to say, "So how do you expect a mother who loves her son with all of her heart to take that? I couldn't. My whole family... You didn't see that," Barbara told Peter. "And as a mother, that wasn't what we were expecting."

"Therefore, when I said I wanted Hannah Ann so badly, it's because I knew that... we just clicked right away. Unfortunately, we did not have a connection with Madison."

Madison declined to respond to Barbara's allegations when she was given a chance to respond and only said "it is what it is" and a lot of what happened was out of her control.
Madison said she remained true to herself and was undeniably herself throughout the entire journey.
"I have love and respect for Peter, and therefore I have love and respect for Peter's family, and I'll never say a negative word about anyone or anything," Madison said.
Peter acknowledged his family was just concerned the bachelorette didn't reciprocate his feelings and his loved ones had his best interests at heart.
"I know how she feels for me, and I know how I feel for her," Peter announced.
Peter asked his parents to give Madison a chance because he loved her and she's "the most amazing person" he's ever met.
Peter said he was willing to endure the uphill battle he and Madison were likely to have and he hoped for their love and support through it all.
However, Barbara still refused to back down and continued attacking the relationship when Chris noted that, as a fellow parent, he understood she only wanted the best for her son.

"The whole family does Chris -- my son, whose 25 years old, my husband, who I'm not going to say his age, [and] myself. We [all] want the best for him, and I have to tell you, two completely different people that one was willing to compromise and the other one has not," Barbara said.
"And to me, you both need to compromise and only one is compromising."
"Earlier, you said when we were with Hannah Ann, showing the show, [Peter] said, 'I gave my heart to two people.' In that place, [only] one gave their heart to him, and that was Hannah Ann," she continued.
"So to me, of course, my love went to Hannah Ann because anyone that loves your child... you love them dearly."
"I disagree," Madison interjected, as the studio audience suddenly applauded.
"I think this isn't just Peter's journey. You know, when you sign up to come on a show like this, you are looking for love too. This wasn't just Peter looking for his wife."
"I totally understand, as a mother, you are going to be thinking about Peter, but also, this is my journey too. This isn't just Peter choosing me; This is me choosing Peter."
But Barbara still insisted on getting the last word!
When Chris asked Barbara how they could turn the page so Madison and Peter would have their support, Barbara replied, "He's going to have to fail to succeed. That's it."
The response prompted audible gasps from the audience, however Barbara was unrelenting.
"All of his friends, all of his family -- everyone that knows him knows that it's not going to work," she said.
"So we've been trying to help him! Would we want it to work? No!," she continued, drawing strong boos from the audience.

Peter finally openly begged his mother to just stop.
"I am telling you that I love Madison," Peter said. "And that should be enough. Please, please. Listen. Listen to me. Listen, please."
Chris then asked Peter Sr. for his opinion -- prompting Barbara, apparently unaware their mics were live -- to quietly urge her husband in Spanish to "say something bad too, help me."
"Okay, honestly I hate the situation. And it's telling to me that there are so many obstacles in this way to even get to this point that you don't even start a relationship like that," Peter Sr. then told Chris.
"Anybody that is watching this show -- again, we say a lot more than the average person here -- would understand that there are so many differences to overcome."
Peter Sr. said the beginning of a relationship should be "the brightest spot" and it was "anything but."

However, Madison and Peter dismissed Barbara and Peter Sr.'s views.
"At this point, I don't think it's right to sit here and rehash things from the past. This is about me and Peter. This is about our journey. This is something he and I should just be talking about," Madison explained.
