While having children together is definitely part of that plan, Jason admitted he and the Season 11 The Bachelorette star are not quite ready yet.
"We both want a family," Jason confirmed to HollywoodLife.

"It's funny, we go back and forth as far as timetables because we have plans and you have ideas of what you want to come and out of left field, things happen, right?"
But Jason insisted, "We're on the same page," regarding the pair's timeline for starting a family.
Jason, who met Kaitlyn while taping an episode of her podcast in October 2018 and took her out on their first date in January 2019, explained they're holding off on having kids due to all of the career opportunities that keep popping up for Kaitlyn.
"We never expected Dancing with the Stars, and that was a huge change," Jason explained, referencing how Kaitlyn had won the ABC reality dancing competition's 29th season.
"And just as we were settling in and getting comfortable at home and looking for a new home in Nashville, Kaitlyn got the call for The Bachelorette."

Kaitlyn will be co-hosting The Bachelorette's upcoming seventeenth season starring Katie Thurston alongside fellow The Bachelorette alum Tayshia Adams after longtime host Chris Harrison "stepped aside" from his hosting duties to educate himself on racism in society after previously defending The Bachelor Season 25 contestant Rachael Kirkconnell's racially-ignorant and insensitive actions in her past.

"As much as you like to plan things, the unexpected can happen, and in these examples, the unexpected is unbelievable things for Kaitlyn," Jason shared.
Given Jason and Kaitlyn seem to struggle with finding time in their busy lives for everything, Jason told HollywoodLife, "I think in a perfect situation... having any healthy kids would be ideal, but we always joke around, 'How perfect would it be if we had twins?'"
However, Jason admitted his two adopted Golden Retrievers with Kaitlyn satisfy their maternal and paternal instincts for right now.

"Two dogs is as many as I think we'll have at this point," Jason said. "While we talk about a future family, we also have a very happy family right now."
Jason, originally from Buffalo, NY, moved from his place in Seattle, WA, to live with Kaitlyn in Nashville, TN, in June 2019.
One year later, Kaitlyn revealed she and Jason had already picked out an engagement ring together.
Other than appearing on Becca Kufrin's season of The Bachelorette, Jason explained, "This is the first public relationship I've been in."
"There is pressure externally, and it's just the nature of the world we live in and it comes with the territory, as we put our relationship out there, as well," Jason said, adding that the couple has great "communication."

"There's always going to be outside noise, and how you handle that is a true testament to your relationship. A true testament to Kaitlyn and I’s relationship is to really communicate effectively with one another and be open and honest about where we stand and why."
Back in June 2020, Kaitlyn gushed to E! News about how her relationship with Jason is extremely healthy.
"I've never felt safe in a relationship until this relationship, so I deal with conflict different and insecurities differently because I don't question him leaving me or, like, get all insecure," Kaitlyn said.
"I feel safe and loved so I feel all of my insecurities differently now."
After failing to win Chris Soules' heart on The Bachelor's nineteenth season, Kaitlyn starred on Season 11 of The Bachelorette, which featured the Off the Vine with Kaitlyn Bristowe podcast host getting engaged to personal trainer Shawn Booth.
Kaitlyn and Shawn split in November 2018 after spending more than three years together.
As for Jason, he finished in third place on Season 14 of The Bachelorette starring Becca in 2018.
