"I loved our life together before as an engaged couple," JoJo, 32, told OK! Weekly on Friday.

"But there is this excitement now of talking about building a family together in the near future that is really special."

JoJo and Jordan, who fell in love on The Bachelorette's twelfth season in 2016, got married on May 14 at Sunstone Winery in Santa Ynez, CA, following two postponed weddings amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Life as newlyweds has been "so amazing," according to the former The Bachelorette star.

JoJo gushed about how she and Jordan's wedding was great and they were "so happy" to finally tie the knot after having to push off and reschedule their big day for so long.

"After having to postpone it in 2020, and then again in 2021 due to the pandemic, we were so happy to finally be able to celebrate and get married this past May. It was truly the best weekend of our lives," JoJo told the magazine.

Now that they are officially husband and wife, JoJo said there have been no major changes in their "day to day lives," but she noted, "I would say there is this feeling you get once married that just feels a bit different."

"It's hard to explain but there is a deeper feeling of connection," she added.

With the holidays coming up, JoJo said she and her husband are extremely busy but have been working hard to make quality time a priority.

"This time of the year is always crazy -- with Jordan being in full football swing and traveling every week to me working on all my projects, we really have had to make a point to put a priority on our alone time we spend together and being intentional about it," JoJo shared.

"Thankfully, we are always together when we are in the same place but having those uninterrupted mini date nights together is super important and something we look forward to."

JoJo said it doesn't matter if she and Jordan go out somewhere fancy or do something small -- such as taking "an evening walk together" or cooking their "favorite meal at home."

"[We are] making sure we are both fully present is a great way to reconnect after a hectic work week," JoJo noted.

JoJo and the sports announcer are currently living in Puerto Rico together, where they are remodeling their home.

"For anyone that's been following along on my social media, I'm sure you know this remodel has been my most challenging to date. It truly has been something we have poured everything into and has been a bit of a bumpy ride, but it has taught me so much," JoJo explained.

"As we are now in the home stretch and I look around to see where we started, to the beauty we have created, I am so proud and can't wait to be in that home to finally enjoy it!"

JoJo said, despite some challenges due to renovating on an island, the couple created a "beautiful and serene outdoor area" with a pool and they're "pretty excited" about everything they have coming in the future.

"With our house specifically, we've had so many delays that it's hard to get upset about things. It can be frustrating, but we've just worked so hard on making it everything we want it to be that there's no point in rushing it. We just want it to be perfect!" JoJo said.

JoJo and Jordan never switched their venue location from their original wedding plans, which were established in 2019 after Jordan had re-proposed marriage with a new and bigger diamond engagement ring.

JoJo and Jordan briefly considered eloping, but they decided to be patient and wait to have their dream wedding in 2022.

JoJo celebrated her bachelorette party in late March in Cabo San Lucas.

JoJo and Jordan's engagement aired in August 2016, and the pair initially planned on getting married on June 13, 2020. They then planned a May 2021 wedding that also fell through due to a 10-person maximum capacity, which was a COVID-19 precaution.

The pair just celebrated their six-year anniversary in May.

JoJo posted a beautiful video montage of the couple on Instagram at the time and captioned it, "6 years with you. Here's to forever, my love [Jordan]. Happy Anniversary."

And Jordan posted similar photos on his own Instagram page and wrote, "6 Years today with my forever [JoJo]. I cannot wait to call you my wife! Not long now..."

Prior to starring on The Bachelorette, JoJo competed for Ben Higgins' heart on The Bachelor's 20th season and finished as the runner-up behind Lauren Bushnell.

Jordan told Us Weekly in May that conversations about having a baby had been "coming up a little bit more recently."

JoJo predicted the couple would start trying for a baby "in the next, like, one [or] two years."
