Former "The Bachelorette" contestant Michael Nance died this week at age 31.
Nance, a musician who competed for Emily Maynard's affections in Season 8, died early Monday morning in Austin, Texas, according to E! News.
Police were dispatched at 2:10 a.m. Monday after receiving a call about an unresponsive male. The person was later identified as Nance, who was pronounced dead at 2:54 a.m.
"At this point it is not a suspicious death and the manner will be determined by the medical examiner," a spokesperson for the Austin Police Department Homicide Unit said.
Arie Luyendyk, Jr., and Chris Bukowski, who also competed in Season 8, reacted to Nance's death on Twitter.
Luyendyk suggested in his tweet that Nance's death was linked to substance abuse.
"I will always remember my friend Michael Nance for his kind and fragile soul. Addiction is a terrible disease, may be finally find peace," Luyendyk wrote.
"Extremely difficult learning the news of Michael Nance's passing. He was a gentle man with a huge heart. He'll be missed but not forgotten," Bukowski added.
