The Bachelorette host Jesse Palmer has explained why Devin Strader and Sam McKinney can't seem to stay out of each other's way on Jenn Tran's season of the show.

Sam apparently teamed up with Aaron Erb and Thomas Nguyen, and all three men fought with Devin and were up in arms over his behavior and aggressive pursuit of Jenn on The Bachelorette.

"I think Devin is someone who is very bold," Jesse shared with Entertainment Weekly.

"He is always able and willing to engage if he feels provoked," the host added.

Jesse previously said of Devin and the "intense" drama surrounding him, "[He] is leaning into his opportunities with Jenn and is focusing on her. He isn't concerned [with] what other men think."

On The Bachelorette's second episode, Jenn's second group date was cut short for seven bachelors because Dylan Buckor, who had stood out during an Australian wildlife photo shoot, got to enjoy a romantic dinner with Jenn alone that evening.

As a result, Thomas and the other jilted bachelors were hoping to secure some quality time with Jenn at the cocktail party preceding the second Rose Ceremony of the season.

Thomas therefore asked Devin and the rest of the cast to have respect for their wishes and show some "fairness."

Devin announced to the group in reply, "I'm not going to fall back to the end of the line, but you know, I think it goes without saying that you guys deserve a little bit more."

However, at the first cocktail party in Melbourne, Devin pulled Jenn aside for a conversation before any other man had a chance to.

Thomas was clearly disappointed and angry, and so he interrupted Devin and Jenn's conversation. As Thomas put Devin on blast for being selfish and arrogant, Jenn -- who had been left alone with a glass of champagne in hand -- eavesdropped on the men's heated conversation.

Devin told Thomas that he was making a fool of himself, especially because Thomas had just prioritized fighting with him over building a connection with The Bachelorette star.

On the "Bachelor Happy Hour" podcast, early frontrunner Grant Ellis -- who had received a group-date rose in Melbourne following a comedy show -- admitted, "Listen, I wouldn't have done what [Thomas] did."

Grant said the drama definitely "worried" him because it clearly affected Jenn, adding, "It definitely made some of the guys look immature."

Grant, however, noted that Devin was "locked in on Jenn" and seemed to have the right intentions, as did Sam M.

Grant suggested that Devin took initiative and created moments for himself with Jenn, which deserves a pat on the back.

"If he feels some type of way, that's what he's going to say and he's going to let you know about it -- and that's the way that I am! So I respected that," Grant explained in Devin's defense on the "Bachelor Happy Hour" podcast.

On The Bachelorette's latest episode, Thomas and Sam M. continued to trash Devin behind his back.

"Devin is a guy that likes to talk about other people as well as himself. F-ck Devin. Why would I want to align myself with someone who has nothing in common with me?" Thomas asked Sam M.

"He is just an ankle biting dog," Sam M. replied. "There is no way she can really grow with a guy like Devin and a guy like me at the same time."

And at the afterparty following the striptease group date, Devin scolded Sam M. and Thomas for "whispering" too much and being judgmental of other men's decisions.

Thomas and Sam M., for example, poked fun at Sam Nejad's "premature" and "disrespectful" love declaration to Jenn onstage earlier that day.

Sam M. announced how he didn't respect Devin and therefore didn't want to talk to him or be friends with him.

When Devin ended the conversation with murmuring "mutual respect," Thomas flipped out and called him "a child." Thomas complained about how Devin always needed to have the last word.

Sam M. proceeded to call Devin "a bully," and ABC slammed the suitor by writing in an onscreen graphic that Sam M. needed "to look up the definition of bully in a dictionary."

At the end of The Bachelorette's July 22 episode, Aaron quit the show and warned Jenn on his way out that some of the guys weren't ready for an engagement and some of the bachelors weren't on the show for the right reasons.

Sam M. insisted to Jenn that he didn't belong in either of those two categories, and Devin continued to promise that he was on The Bachelorette solely to have a future with Jenn.
