"I really, really, really did not see this coming.  I've never had my heart broken before, I've always been the one to leave a relationship, so this is definitely new," the 27-year-old sales consultant from Green Bay, WI said after Ali eliminated him.

"I felt so good about where we were at, I really did.  I could have seen myself proposing to her -- I would have taken that leap of faith and I would have gotten down on knee and I would have asked for her to marry me.   My heart's a bit bruised right now.  This sucks."

Monday night's The Bachelorette broadcast featured Ali traveling to the hometowns of all of her final four suitors --- Roberto Martinez, a 26-year-old insurance agent from Charleston, SC, Frank Neuschaefer, a 31-year-old retail manager from Geneva, IL, Chris Lambton, a 33-year-old landscaper from Dennis, MA, and Kirk -- and meeting their families.

Afterward, Ali and the men reunited at The Bachelorette mansion in Malibu, CA and The Bachelorette star eliminated Kirk at the subsequent Rose Ceremony.

"I'm sorry," Ali told Kirk as she walked him to a waiting limousine.

"Don't be sorry," Kirk replied.

"I think the world of you.  This is so hard because it's not about like you or me, or anything like that.  It's just I don't know that we're right together,' Ali said.

"I kind of hurts just because I've like really tried to be open with you about everything, I haven't done that before.  So it hurts a little more knowing that I gave all of myself to you and it's just not what you're looking for.  I guess that's what it's going to be.  Thank you, I guess," Kirk said.

The Bachelorette's next sixth-season episode will air Monday, July 19 at 8PM ET/PT on ABC.
