The Bachelorette star Andi Dorfman's runner-up bachelor was reportedly so convinced she made the wrong decision at the end of her journey, he stood waiting in the wings for her to admit her mistake and take him back.

The tenth season's runner-up, who is widely reported to be Nick Viall, was unable to accept Dorfman's choice to pick Josh Murray at her final Rose Ceremony filmed in Punta Cana. In fact, the runner-up started looking into buying an engagement ring for Dorfman for when she changed her mind, Us Weekly reported in its July 28 issue.

According to a show source, the rejected bachelor couldn't take "no" for an answer and pleaded for a second chance. The runner-up reportedly begged Dorfman to meet with him in person once the pair returned to the United States to convince her of why they should be together.

"He thinks there's no way she can be happy with her choice," said the source.

It's possible the heartbroken bachelor will still be fighting for what he wants come The Bachelor: After the Final Rose special, which airs live after the tenth-season finale on Monday, July 28.

"The winner doesn't know about any of this," an insider told Us.

The show source explained the runner-up believed Dorfman wasn't confident in her selection and would eventually "pull a Mesnick," which refers to former The Bachelor star Jason Mesnick's controversial move in which he dumped his fiancee and final bachelorette for his runner-up after the finale aired.

Dorfman's rejected suitor was reportedly so convinced the Bachelorette would want to swap men that he planned out another proposal. He had been prepared to propose in the Dominican Republic.

"He was thinking about getting a ring and everything," said a friend.

However, the rejected suitor's hopes and dreams were apparently destroyed when Dorfman had absolutely no intention of looking back.

"She made it clear that she didn't want to see him," noted the show source. "She never learned that he was thinking about proposing."

Rather than continue to be depressed over Dorfman's decision to dump him, the runner-up just got mad, according to Us.

"It's been incredibly hard for him. He really thought she was going to pick him," added the insider. "He's almost gone through the stages of grief: believing that she was going to come to her senses then, and now just feeling really angry and upset."

It reportedly didn't help that the runner-up allegedly lost to his "chief rival" in the house.

"There's definitely a lot of bad feelings between them -- more than with previous final twos," explained the insider.

The Bachelorette host Chris Harrison had his own take on the Viall and Murray match-up to win Dorfman's heart.

"I think Josh is a safe pick. It's what she's comfortable with. She's dated guys like that," Harrison told the magazine at the Men Tell All taping. "I think Nick represents what she would aspire to have, what she would like to have. It's the road less traveled."

Potential The Bachelor star Chris Soules definitely thought one guy had an edge over the other at first, however, he's opened his mind to the possibility that either guy might be a great fit for Dorfman.

"If you would have asked me what I thought of Nick the second I left, I would have been praying for him not to make it," Soules said of Viall. "But watching it, there's something between him and Andi that I didn't see. He was totally committed to her. I could see either him or Josh being a good fit."
