"I will be honest, I don't think I did [brace myself]. I don't think I prepared myself for that possibility because, I mean, in the real world, you don't have the opportunity to date multiple people at the same time and then form these connections," Charity explained.
"So for me, [falling in love with multiple people] definitely came as a shock," continued the 27-year-old child and family therapist.
"I was like, 'How do I help myself with this and process what I'm feeling?' The hardest part [was choosing]."
But The Bachelorette star shared how some deep self-reflection helped her to navigate those difficult choices and ultimately make her final decision.
"I journaled from the very beginning of my experience all the way to the end, which is so nice to be able to go back and reflect on," Charity said.
"But in this environment, there's so much that's going on and I have a lot of thoughts -- a lot of things -- that are happening all at once, so to be able to take my thoughts and put them on paper to make better sense of them helped me regulate my emotions a lot better."
Charity said jotting down her thoughts and feelings was "definitely" the "most helpful thing" for her during the process of searchin for The One.
Charity also apparently leaned on her family -- especially her beloved older brother Nehemiah Lawson, who dressed in disguise at the Night 1 cocktail party -- when they got the chance to meet her top selections on The Bachelorette.

Now that Charity's journey to find love is underway on ABC, The Bachelor alum revealed the hardest part of being the franchise's leading lady.

"[It's] just making the adjustment to being recognized in public and also watching all of this back," Charity shared. "It's been very interesting, to say the least."
While The Bachelorette star refused to give specifics on her winner and if she's engaged, GMA's co-hosts noticed a diamond ring on Charity's middle finger.
Charity first mentioned to Extra in late June that she had fallen in love with two people, and she told Us Weekly that a person probably wouldn't understand how that's possible until he or she tries out The Bachelor or The Bachelorette process.
"I advise everyone: if you don't believe it, test it out for yourself. I don't know when you'd have the opportunity to be the Bachelorette or Bachelor, but try it in the real world [and] you'll find out," Charity told the magazine with a laugh.
"It definitely is possible considering circumstances and how much time we have to really just, like, truly focus on these connections."
Season 12 The Bachelorette star JoJo Fletcher -- who hosted the Barbie group date in Episode 3 of The Bachelorette's 20th season with her husband Jordan Rodgers -- previously teased that Charity was "torn" between her suitors.

But Charity apparently followed her heart and it didn't lead her astray.

"This season has truly taught me a lot more about trusting my intuition, because it wasn't wrong."
Still though, Charity described her Fantasy Suites as "rocky" and her finale as extremely emotional.
The Bachelorette is heading into its fourth episode on Monday, July 17 at 9PM ET/PT on ABC.
