"And I personally don't wish that we would have ended up together because I don't think that would have been a very healthy or successful relationship."

On The Bachelorette's latest Season 20 episode that aired Monday night on ABC, Xavier dropped a bombshell on Charity in Fiji that he had been unfaithful -- multiple times -- in his most recent relationship, which lasted well over two years.
Charity, having been in a self-described "toxic" six-year relationship in which the man had repeatedly cheated on her, understandably felt triggered. She immediately got upset and emotional, before demanding answers.
"It was very important that in that moment I maintained and displayed emotional regulation and effective communication," Charity told Entertainment Weekly in a separate interview.
Xavier claimed he had done some introspective work post-cheating, but he was unable to reassure Charity that he'd never cheat on her if they ended up together.
Charity could tell that Xavier was doubting himself and whether he could commit to -- and truly be loyal to -- one woman for the rest of his life.
Not only was Xavier questioning if he was ready to propose marriage at the end of the process, but he also confessed to Charity that his heart and his head were at odds.
Xavier said his heart didn't doubt that he wanted a future with Charity but his head was second-guessing his ability to be the boyfriend and future husband that she deserves.
"Despite how many emotions I was experiencing, I was extremely proud of myself for how I remained in the moment with that challenging conversation," Charity said.
Charity, no longer willing to accept vague promises, then asked the suitor point blank if he could "show up" for her and make their relationship work after the show, no matter what.

And that's when Xavier confessed that in order for him to get to that point, he needed to spend more time with Charity and see more from her.

Charity, however, thought she had shown Xavier her true colors and who she really is, and she didn't think one night in a bedroom together was going to change his mind or intentions.
Since Xavier couldn't convince Charity that he wouldn't repeat the mistakes of his past, Charity eliminated him during the dinner portion of their date in Fiji in third place, before they could even enjoy the overnight part of the Fantasy Suite date.
Charity said she was very "disappointed in the conversation," especially since Xavier had waited so long to tell her about his infidelity.
After all, Charity and Xavier had ample time together during a one-on-one date in Washington as well as his hometown date.
"The only thing I could come up with [for why he waited] was the simple fact that it isn't a glamorous thing to talk about," Charity reasoned with EW.
"In no way am I making excuses; I thought it was poor [decision-making] that he waited that long, but I wonder if it was something he went back and forth with on whether or not he wanted to talk about it openly on air... But I am glad he didn't keep it from me until any later."

The 27-year-old biomedical scientist from Carrboro, NC, said in his final words, "I know that I just hurt her so much. That woman put her heart on the line every single day, and I doubted myself and us, and I shouldn't have done that. I shouldn't have doubted it."
The next morning, however, Charity woke up feeling refreshed and confident in her other two connections with Dotun Olubeko and Joey Graziadei, both of whom she realized she was "in love" with by the end of Fantasy Suites.
"This isn't Build-A-Man Workshop," Charity noted on The Bachelorette's latest episode.
The Bachelorette star told EW of her hilarious workshop remark, "I stand by that saying to this day."
"This is not, and will never be, a Build-A-Man workshop over here. I am not your therapist, but I can absolutely make referrals out," she joked.
The Bachelorette: The Men Tell All is set to air Monday, August 14, and then the following week, fans will be able to see whether Charity welcomed Aaron Bryant back into the competition.
Aaron, whom Charity ousted after her Final 4 men's hometown dates, traveled all the way to Fiji for closure or, better yet, another chance with The Bachelorette star.
Aaron told the cameras that Charity was worth fighting for, and Charity was blown away by the bold gesture.
