The Family Chantel featured Chantel Everett and Pedro Jimeno's families reuniting for the second time in the Dominican Republic and Pedro confronting his former friend Obed about alleging his marriage to Chantel had been a setup during Monday night's episode on TLC.

Chantel called the reunion "a disaster," especially given she and Pedro didn't even sleep in the same bed after their argument.
Chantel felt Pedro had "sabotaged" the meeting by not accurately translating what her parents, Thomas and Karen, were saying. But Pedro insisted that was not his intention and Chantel probably should've translated herself since she speaks Spanish very well.
Chantel, however, didn't understand everything Pedro's mother Lidia and sister Nicole had said. She was so frustrated with her husband, and it was clear their families couldn't even be civil with each other.
"We were trusting you to be a leader for the communication between our two families," Chantel said.
But Pedro accused Chantel of yelling at his family and being aggressive and trying to be on top.
"Our intentions were not to fight, but yours were," Chantel said.
Pedro said it made no sense for him to sabotage the night when he wanted Chantel's family to get along with his own relatives more than anything. The pair's argument continued and Pedro yelled at his wife for living in the past and bringing up the same stuff.
Chantel admitted she was "sick and tired" of fighting with Pedro, who claimed all he wanted was for their two families to come together and find peace.
Chantel said their loved ones would never get along if they couldn't be united as a married couple. Chantel didn't feel like they were "playing for the same team" when the reunion went down, but she still wanted to make things work.

Chantel then thought of the idea of hiring a language translator to help the two families communicate. Chantel attributed part of the problem to their language barrier.
Chantel apologized to Pedro for fighting and still had hope their families could one day get along in the United States.
The couple therefore decided to have Karen, Thomas, Lidia and Nicole meet again -- but first, Pedro needed to convince his mother and sister to be willing.
Lidia thought the first reunion took a negative direction and Chantel's family had treated them poorly. Pedro said there was bad communication that night, but Nicole noted Chantel had been very defensive.
"I don't want to participate anymore with Chantel's family," Lidia said.
Pedro, however, suggested having a professional unbiased and neutral interpreter present for the next conversation. He pleaded for a second opportunity and asked Nicole and Lidia to have the gathering for him, and so they finally obliged.
"Remember we are doing this because we also need their help," Pedro pointed out, although Lidia and Nicole were not excited to have another confrontation.

Emma Fernandez served as the translator, and no one could talk unless he or she was holding a coconut, which was a technique Chantel's family had learned from family counseling.
Lidia started the discussion by saying she wanted to resolve past conflicts. Chantel therefore asked Lidia and Nicole if they had been looking for an American woman for Pedro to marry before she met them.
Chantel questioned whether Lidia and Nicole were hoping Pedro could stay married just to obtain a spousal visa and Green Card, and she said she heard such information from their former family friend, Obed.
Pedro was so disappointed in Obed for allegedly gossiping and spreading lies.
"That's not real. That is not true," Pedro insisted.
Karen said at the time Chantel got together with Pedro, River had done some investigating and found a website that could be "linked to human trafficking" with Lidia's name on it. The website allegedly helped people in the Dominican Republic find American partners to marry.
"These two ladies are pretending and lying because it was an initiative to find an American woman to get [Pedro] over to the United States so Lidia and her daughter can take advantage of the American economy through their son and, most of all, through an American woman," Karen explained to the cameras.
"They want to keep using Chantel to come to America. I know this is true."
Nicole, however, explained Obed had problems with her and so used those problems to hurt her family by "saying things that aren't true." Nicole said Obed used Chantel as an outlet to target them considering they didn't get along.

Nicole alleged Obed had accused her family of running a fraudulent business as well as using a web page to find a girlfriend for Pedro. Nicole said the story was "totally false" and a "total lie."

Karen wasn't sure she could believe Pedro's family, but Pedro argued Lidia never even met Chantel when she first visited the Dominican Republic. And Lidia said there was no proof she had been running some sort of scam.
Lidia insisted she was telling the truth and has always done what is best for her son. Lidia said she liked Chantel when she met her and had tried to be supportive.
"Chantel, you are a daughter to me," Lidia said.
Chantel said in a confessional that was good to hear, but she wasn't convinced Lidia really wanted a relationship with her since Lidia allegedly tended to be mean to her.
Lidia then invited Chantel's relatives to spend more time with them and visit with Pedro's grandmother, but Karen and Thomas were skeptical and wondered if something "sinister" was on the horizon.
Thomas and Karen said they'd think about accepting Lidia's invitation, but Pedro pushed them to give his mother and sister a chance. Pedro wanted the group to unite.
Pedro said things would get worse if Karen and Thomas opted against visiting with his grandmother.
Pedro thought the second reunion went well, and he blamed Obed for causing Chantel and her family not to trust his own. He planned to speak with Obed as a result and get to the bottom of things.

It had been about a week since Winter last spoke to Jah, her boyfriend who had been keeping his first-born child a secret from her. Winter loved Jah even though he had lied to her, but she wasn't sure whether she could ever trust him again.
Winter wasn't sure her relationship with Jah could ever work out, but she at least wanted to hear him out.

Jah apologized for hurting Winter and said he had been keeping his son a secret because he didn't want to chase her away. Jah knew Winter accepted his daughter Liani and feared bringing another child into the situation would be too much "baggage" for her to handle.
Jah, however, said he regretted not being honest with Winter and wished he had given her a choice in the matter. Winter questioned if Jah was being truthful about everything else since he had been able to lie to her for so long.
Jah said he had been waiting for the perfect way and moment to tell Winter about his son, but Winter thought that was ridiculous since he had allowed five years to pass. Winter felt her relationship had been built "on false pretenses."
Jah begged Winter to work things out, saying he loved her and wanted to try.
"I really love the guy I thought I was with, but at this moment, I don't trust you and I'm still hurt," Winter cried.

Jah asked Winter if they could speak in person once she returned home, and she said yes, although Winter was very emotional.
River didn't think there was anything Jah could say to salvage his relationship with Winter, but he was there to support his devastated sister.
Pedro was then shown meeting with Obed to talk things over. Pedro asked Obed why he had presented his marriage as a "conspiracy," but Obed said he had left Pedro out of the equation.
Obed told the cameras he had "lived the experience" and their mutual friend had set Pedro and Chantel up just so Pedro could receive a Green Card.
"I said [Nicole and Lidia] made it happen and you fell in love with Chantel," Obed claimed in his conversation with Pedro.

"I am with Chantel because she's the love of my life... In this moment, I am thinking she is the woman I'm going to need every day of my life," Pedro told the cameras.
Pedro accused Obed of seeking revenge, but Obed said he'd only want revenge against Nicole and Lidia -- not Pedro, who used to be his good friend.
Obed apparently blamed Pedro's family for ruining his last relationship with his boyfriend, but Pedro also pointed out that wasn't true.
Obed told Pedro that he had "way bigger problems" to work on than dealing with him. Pedro said if Obed was a true friend, he'd try to help put the two families back together, but he had no faith Obed was going to step up to the plate.
Pedro didn't consider Obed a true friend although Obed promised to render the situation and do some work in Pedro's favor.
"Say hi to your family," Obed noted as Pedro walked away.
Pedro said if Chantel's family chose to believe Obed, they'd never trust him again.
