The Family Chantel featured Pedro Jimeno's mother Lidia lashing out at her daughter Nicole for dating an uneducated man worth "nothing" and Chantel Everett's family traveling to the Philippines for Royal and his wife Angenette's second wedding.

Chantel was upset because she believed Angenette had lied to her face about not looking for an American man online prior to meeting Royal. Chantel therefore remained skeptical of Angenette's intentions and even questioned everything Angenette had said to her up to that point.
But before the family's trip, Karen mentioned how there had been an outbreak of coronavirus in China. It appeared the pandemic was in the beginning stages, and Karen admitted leaving the country under such circumstances was "unnerving" for her.
Karen then revealed to Chantel that Royal once made a comment to Angenette when she was pregnant with his child. Royal apparently asked, "What if it's not mine?"
Karen gave her son the benefit of the doubt, thinking Royal must have "observed something sketchy" to make him suspect Angenette could have been cheating.
"Royal and I are really close. He always calls or texts whenever he has a problem with Angenette or if they're ever arguing, and he tells me things about her that makes me think he's not treating her well," Chantel explained in a confessional.
"That's why I've been so suspicious of her and worried for my brother, honestly."
Chantel had been asked not to tell anyone, but now that Karen heard this information, Chantel said a weight had been lifted off her shoulders.
Chantel told Karen that she didn't trust Angenette's intentions with her brother and they had to get to the bottom of things in the Philippines. Royal also apparently told Chantel that Angenette had been talking to four or five other guys before they decided to have a relationship -- and all the guys were American.

Chantel also pointed out there was mistrust in Royal and Angenette's relationship because they shared social-media passwords with each other.

Chantel accused her family of "walking on eggshells" around Royal so he wouldn't feel uncomfortable and distance himself from his loved ones, and so Chantel asked Karen to keep her guard up and keep her eyes open.
Meanwhile, in the Dominican Republic, Nicole was really excited about her boyfriend Alejandro traveling to see her. However, Nicole feared her mother Lidia might overreact since she allegedly has a history of doing so.
Nicole feared Lidia would flip out upon hearing that Alejandro was still married, and so she was waiting for the right time to tell her mother.
Nicole, who was celebrating her graduation, told the cameras Chantel needed to focus more on her studies because she wasn't able to graduate from nursing school.
Nicole and Lidia celebrated Nicole's latest achievement with a fancy dinner out at a restaurant, and Nicole said it felt great to hear that her mother was proud of her because Lidia tends to be a tough woman.
Nicole then revealed to her mother that Alejandro would be flying to see them in a few days and she was in a "serious" relationship. But Lidia believed Nicole was just having a fling and Nicole saying her romance was "serious" held little to no value to her.
Nicole said her 27-year-old boyfriend planned to attend college soon, but Lidia wanted her daughter to find a man "on her level" -- something "worth meeting," who has "worked hard" and gone to college already.

Lidia asked Nicole to be more rational and find a job with a steady impressive career, adding, "He is nothing." Nicole shouted at her mother at the table that she was "really wrong."
Lidia yelled at Nicole for disrespecting her in public and called her daughter an "airhead," and then Nicole slammed her napkin down on the table and left the dinner with a full meal on her plate.
"She reacted in the worst way and she ruined the entire night. I don't even want to imagine what will happen when she finds out that he is still married," Nicole told the cameras before breaking down into tears.
Meanwhile, Pedro was happy about traveling to the Philippines and exploring a new city, and he suggested Royal and Angenette needed to clear the air before getting married for the second time.
Pedro could tell Royal and Angenette had problems, and so he hoped they'd figure things out.
Once at the airport, Winter joked she was going to have three weddings since all of her siblings seemed to get two weddings.
And Angenette didn't exactly feel accepted or welcome into Chantel's family. She could tell Royal's loved ones doubted her or talked about her behind her back.
After learning more about Royal and Angenette's relationship and gaining new information, Karen said she didn't know what to think anymore and so the events that were about to unfold in the Philippines were unpredictable.
It had been a few months since Angenette had moved to the United States, and so she was very excited to see her family and be back in her home.
Royal just hoped his family wasn't going to embarrass him or act like fools. Royal said there was no need for drama, skepticism or mischief in the Philippines.

It then became time for Pedro's 25-year-old sister to pick Alejandro up at the airport in the Dominican Republic, where he is also originally from. Nicole was very nervous to introduce her boyfriend to Lidia, knowing the mother and daughter's first conversation about him was "a disaster."

Alejandro surprised Nicole with a new purse, multiple perfumes and a brand new cell phone.
Nicole looked forward to spending quality time with her man, and she just hoped her mother would see for herself that Alejandro is allegedly a wonderful guy.
"This might be the first mother-in-law that doesn't like you," Nicole warned Alejandro in the car ride over to her mother's house, adding that Lidia had said "some nasty things" about him and their relationship without even knowing him.
Alejandro said it was "unfair" Lidia had a negative opinion of him considering they had never met, and he didn't exactly feel invited into Lidia's home.
Nicole wasn't sure how to proceed if Lidia didn't Alejandro, but she assured him that they wouldn't break up. With that being said, Alejandro comforted his girlfriend and promised that everything would be fine.
Chantel's family planned to stay in Manila for a few days before traveling to meet Angenette's family, and Angenette took them all to a local market.
Angenette tried to be optimistic about Chantel's family maintaining an open mind about the crowded streets and interesting food, but the American family was definitely going to be out of their comfort zone.

Karen, for instance, had no desire to try a lot of the local foods, such as a duck embryo, and Royal just wanted his family to appreciate Angenette's culture and traditions.
Karen noticed Angenette was more confident, talkative and aggressive in the Philippines, so she started questioning Angenette's true personality and identity.
"Maybe this is the real her. I am concerned because I feel as though Angenette, she might very well be using my son. I hope that's not the case, but if it is, there is a thing called 'karma,' and last time I checked, karma is a mother," Karen said.

Nicole then brought Alejandro home to meet her mother, and Alejandro intended to just go with the flow. Lidia noticed it was "weird" Alejandro had painted his beard on his face at first glance.
Lidia also told the cameras that Alejandro stunk up his house with cheap perfume.
Alejandro gifted Lidia with a purse and perfume, but she called the gifts "cheap" and said she wouldn't use them. Nicole therefore called her mother "ungrateful," but Lidia argued she simply has "fine tastes."
Alejandro revealed he and Nicole had been together for several months and their situation was "a little complicated" because they were having a long-distance relationship.
Alejandro revealed he's a sales manager at a phone company and worked part-time as a bartender, but Lidia announced that he was not on Nicole's level and he might as well have been "a dishwasher."

Alejandro told the cameras that he worked his butt off to making a living in the United States and he couldn't believe Nicole's mother had talked to him like that.
Alejandro said he had been studying business for a few months, and Lidia explained she had sacrificed a lot for Nicole to go to college in order to have a better life.
"You don't have the same mentality," Lidia told Alejandro.
Nicole tried to stand up for her man, but then Lidia shut her down and told her daughter not to start any trouble.
"He is an opportunist. He is not right for you at all," Lidia shouted at her daughter. "He is good for nothing."

Lidia said it was very disrespectful for Alejandro to assume he could stay at her house and arrive with a large suitcase and multiple bags.
Lidia then tossed Alejandro's suitcase out of the house, and some of his belongings fell out of the bags. Lidia apparently even broke one of Alejandro's cologne bottles.

"You both can leave!" Lidia yelled.
"Oh my God," Alejandro responded.
"Okay," Nicole said, as she left her mother's house with her boyfriend.
