The Golden Bachelor has explained why Marina Perera seemed to disappear in Episode 2 after receiving a rose from Gerry Turner on Night 1.

The Golden Bachelor has revealed that Marina, a 60-year-old educator from Los Angeles, CA, quit the show before the second Rose Ceremony of the season to tend to a pressing matter at home.

During The Golden Bachelor's second episode, which aired on Thursday, October 5, Marina was nowhere to be found. She wasn't a part of the group date, nor did she receive screentime during the second Rose Ceremony of the season.

The Golden Bachelor fans therefore wondered if Gerry had eliminated her but ABC chose not to air her rose denial.

To address the speculation of Marina's whereabouts, The Golden Bachelor shared a deleted scene via Twitter to explain what happened to the beautiful senior bachelorette.

In the deleted scene, Jesse tells Gerry, "One of the reasons I came by today is Marina."

Jesse continues, "Marina's had a situation with her family back home. She's no longer here now, but she did want the opportunity to speak to you, if that's okay. So I'll put her on FaceTime."

The Golden Bachelor contestant proceeded to apologize to Gerry over FaceTime for her abrupt and unexpected departure.

"The thing I wanted to tell you, you know, I'm a single mom and I had to choose my family and, you know, support my family's needs at this time," Marina shared.

"And I am sorry that I had to leave, but at the same time, I had to get my priorities straight."

The Golden Bachelor star told Marina, "I fully understand," adding, "Commitment to family overrides just about everything else. And I really respect you for doing what you've done."

Gerry, although "disappointed" in Marina's early exit, assured the bachelorette, "I agree with you 100 percent that you needed to put your family needs before everything else."

Marina thanked Gerry for recognizing her responsibilities at home, and she admitted, "I think I needed to hear that."

The Golden Bachelor star proceeded to give Marina his "prayers and support" for the situations he was dealing with back home.

"Thank you, and I really want to wish you well," Marina said. "I think there are some beautiful women with some beautiful souls, and I want to wish you nothing but the best from my heart."

Gerry noted how that was "a wonderful sentiment," and The Golden Bachelor star also wished her "all the happiness in the world."

Marina quipped, "Thank you so much! I will take it."

Gerry then spoke to Jesse about how he believes good things come to people who do the right thing.

On The Golden Bachelor's second episode, Gerry handed out roses one after the next after the Rose Ceremony.

While Gerry did not call out Marina's name for a rose, her elimination was not shown either.

It's therefore apparent Marina chose to leave the show some time after the Night 1 Rose Ceremony.

Gerry ultimately denied roses to Jeanie, a 65-year-old retired project manager from Estill Springs, TN; Natascha, a 60-year-old pro-aging coach and midlife speaker from New York, NY; and Peggy, a 69-year-old dental hygienist from East Haven, CT.

"I know he was feeling bad about hurting me tonight, because it really is a hurt," Jeanie explained in her final words.

"But a lot of us, we were kind of giving up on love, and with Gerry, there's nice guys out there and there's hope! That's all we could ever ask for. I know my mama found love in her seventies, and so I can do it too."

As fans may recall, when Marina exited a limo on Night 1, she told Gerry that she could swim in his blue eyes.

She was one of the last three women to receive a rose from Gerry at the first Rose Ceremony of the season.

Gerry was clearly able to move on from Marina's departure and focus on the other bachelorettes.

The Golden Bachelor star recently revealed to BachelorNation.com that he's very confident in the decisions he made throughout The Golden Bachelor process during filming.

"I don't have any regrets about the decisions I made," Gerry said in late September. "I was as slow and deliberate as I could possibly be."

But Gerry acknowledged that his choices were "very difficult to implement" throughout the show, especially towards the end of filming.

"[It was] very emotional," Gerry noted.

In fact, Gerry previously told Entertainment Weekly that saying goodbye to one or more women every week was extremely tough.

"I cried like a baby," Gerry confessed. "With each Rose Ceremony, Jesse looked at me with more and more concern, because it really felt like the weight of the world was on my chest a couple of times."

Gerry recalled, "I remember walking out of the mansion during one of the Rose Ceremonies and bending over because I really felt like I couldn't catch my breath."

While The Golden Bachelor fans will have to wait to find out if Gerry is currently dating someone or maybe even engaged, Gerry hinted to EW that he's happy and content with how the show ended.

"This is a great day, isn't it?" Gerry said last month, suggesting he may currently be in love. "I'm so pleasantly surprised by how things ended."

Gerry signed up to be The Golden Bachelor after losing his high school sweetheart and late wife, Toni Turner, to complications from a bacterial infection in 2017.

The pair had been married for 43 years and welcomed two daughters, Angie and Jenny, together. Gerry also has two granddaughters, Charlee and Payton, and lives on a beautiful lake in Indiana.
