The Hills stars Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt have revealed that they secretly eloped and got married while on vacation in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico last week.

The couple -- who had called off their engagement last year but resumed dating shortly afterwards -- were wed on November 20 during a 15-minute ceremony at a chapel at the One & Only Palmilla resort, Us Weekly reports in its December 8 issue. No family members or friends were reportedly present for the ceremony.
According to the couple, they hadn't traveled to the resort with the intention of getting married and the wedding happened after Pratt had suggested the idea as a joke.
"We had some margaritas on the beach," he told Us with a laugh. "I brought it up, I was just putting it up there, how easy would it be with no family drama, no issues with friends or former friends. It's just us, we're here, there's this chapel. We were joking - 'Wouldn't it be fun?'"
After visiting the chapel and learning that it was available, the couple decided that getting married there was "meant to be," according to Pratt.

"Once we saw the chapel. Heidi said 'This is exactly what you always wanted,'" Pratt told Us.
The couple then went back to their room and assembled wedding outfits from the resort clothes they had brought with them, with Pratt choosing a John Varvatos button-down shirt and Ever jeans while Montag donned a white Balenciaga sundress and Christian Louboutins shoes, Us reported.
While excited by the idea of having a more personal ceremony, Montag told Us that she had been nervous and had even wondered if her husband-to-be was serious about going through with the ceremony.
"My heart was pounding and I had butterflies, but I was worried at the same time, like, is he going to do this? Is this a joke?" Montag told Us.
"I was sitting there for a minute alone, and I'm thinking, 'Oh my gosh, are we really going to do this? This is crazy! I wish my mom was here, my dad was here, but at the same time I felt an inner peace because it was really just about us," she added.

During the brief ceremony that followed, the couple reportedly exchanged leather rings -- the only rings available at the hotel store -- and wrote their own vows on hotel stationary.
"I was trying to be simple. Just say that she's the most amazing person I've ever been around in my life and I'm honored to be with her" Pratt told Us of the vows he wrote.
"The minute we said our vows, I couldn't stop crying," added Montag.
Montag admitted she missed taking part in the customs of a more traditional wedding such as throwing the bouquet, having her father walk her down the aisle and having a wedding cake, but still called it "the happiest day of [her] life."
"It wasn't the dream wedding I dreamed of as a little girl, where I'd have ponies and a million-dollar dress and flowers everywhere and family and friends," she told Us. "It wasn't exactly how I pictured it, but sometimes the best things in life are the things you don't plan."

Pratt added that avoiding the drama of having family and friends attending the ceremony had meant a lot to him and allowed him to focus solely on Montag instead of being distracted.
"There would have been nerves if [Heidi's] mother was sitting there, stressed out. Her dad, her sister, my sister, my nana - everyone would have been crying or yelling. All I want is Heidi. I don't see why you need people there to watch it," Pratt told Us.
Montag told Us that she hadn't yet told her mother about the wedding and was worried that she would be upset. However, she added that speaking to her before the ceremony had only reinforced her belief that eloping was the right thing to do.
"I called her right before the ceremony, sort of hinted that something happened, but her reaction was to ask me if we were breaking up!" Montag told Us. "I told her it might be something else and she said 'Well, if you ever plan on getting married, just know that your stepdad is really upset that you want your father to walk you down the aisle.'"
"She was starting so much drama, it kind of pushed me towards wanting to get married without that. I don't know when to tell her. I'd like to tell her in person," she added.

Montag said that the couple had decided to not sign a pre-nup agreement, and Pratt added that there were no current plans to have a second ceremony for friends and family. They planned to honeymoon "somewhere exotic" like Fiji or Costa Rica.
Additionally, Montag said that they would look be replace their temporary leather rings in the near future as well.
"We saved a lot of money, so that can all go into a new ring" Montag told Us with a laugh. "I don't think he'll escape that easily! I'll still need one."
