The Proposal's latest engaged couple, Stephen and Sophia Schoenau, have revealed the current status of their relationship.

"Sophia and Stephen may not have made it work, but they had a great time meeting on #TheProposal!" wrote The Proposal's official Twitter account.
Stephen proposed marriage to Sophia after knowing her for less than one hour, and their engagement aired during Monday night's episode on ABC.
Both individuals posted a video message to fans on The Proposal's Twitter page, explaining what went wrong over the last couple of months.
"I'm going to give you a quick update on the status of Sophia and I since filming. I'm sure everyone is dying to know what's going on between us. Sophia and I both moved back to New Orleans as an engaged couple, but we wanted to kind of start our relationship from the beginning and get to know each other before we progressed to the next stage," Stephen said.
"She got to meet my family and friends. I got to meet some of her family and friends. And all I've got to say is Sophia is a loving, genuine, sweet, and caring person."

"I have nothing but love and respect for her. But unfortunately, I think the timing of our relationship was a little bit off."
Stephen continued, "She was about to graduate college; she was about to move back home to New York and really just saw us as friends."
"So with that being said, Sophia and I are not engaged anymore, but we have this amazing friendship that we talk all the time and have this amazing bond from the show."
Speaking of the show, Stephen still believes the process can work, as the two previous couples from the show are still dating or engaged.

"Unfortunately, it didn't work out for Sophia and I, but we have this amazing friendship from the show. My love life, as far as that is concerned, I'm a single man. But I'm extremely confident my wife and future soul mate is out there. It didn't work out for me on this show, but who knows what will happen in the future," Stephen explained.

And in Sophia's own personal video, she echoed similar sentiments.
"After the show was filmed, Stephen and I flew back to New Orleans together and we really got to know each other. I got to meet his incredible parents; he got to meet my parents, my friends, and we just had the best time," she gushed.
"Stephen is one of the most genuine, loving guys I've ever met, and I've really got nothing but good things to say about him."
Sophia concluded, "Unfortunately, since I was graduating and moving back to New York, I kind of realized we were just better as friends and we are no longer together. We are not engaged, and we are just friends right now."

But Sophia said she still talks to Stephen all the time.

"I am so thankful to have gotten to know someone like Stephen. He's awesome, and to have been able to meet all the incredible people on the show. I really had an incredible experience. So no, we are not engaged, but we are still great friends and still in touch."
The stunning Sophia was one of 10 women who competed for Stephen's heart in four pageant-style rounds of competition -- including swimwear and "dealbreaker questions."

Sophia not only sang Stephen a sweet song on her guitar, but she came across well spoken and mature.
