Show producers are planning to get rid of original cast member Taylor Armstrong and phase in new ladies which may include Rod Stewart's wife Penny Lancaster for the upcoming fourth season, E! News reported.

"Producers are looking at other options. They feel like Taylor's storyline has become too dark and they need to shake things up a bit," a source told E! News, referencing the other cast members' speculation that Armstrong may have developed a potential drinking problem following the suicide of late husband Russell Armstrong, who killed himself about a month after she filed for divorce from him.

In addition to Lancaster, another person who has reportedly been contacted to potentially join the Bravo reality series is a woman whose family owns the Crustacean restaurant in Los Angeles.

Added the source, "They have been talking to quite a few new people. There are also discussions about Faye Resnick possibly coming onboard as a full time-member."

According to E! News, the current The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills cast members have not yet received confirmation they'll be returning for the franchise's next edition, which is set to begin filming by April. The ladies will allegedly need three-weeks notice before taping begins.

Bravo and Armstrong's representatives have yet to comment on the matter.

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills' third season premiered in early November.
