The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Lisa Rinna has revealed that she left the Bravo reality series due to alleged death threats and a spiritual visitation from her late mother Lois.

Lisa, 59, announced back in January that she was exiting The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills after eight seasons, and now she's explaining in detail the shocking reasons why she had decided to end her run on the show.

Lisa told The Evening Standard's magazine, ES Magazine, that her interactions with fans became "volatile" and she felt a darkness in her world as a result.

"I think the world itself has gotten so volatile that the response doesn't match what we're doing," Lisa said, seemingly referring to how The Real Housewives franchise is supposed to bring fun and lighthearted drama.

"I didn't want to live like that.I don't think that's healthy," she continued.

"The way the fanbase reacts to the show now is not how it was when I first started. I mean, we were getting death threats."

Lisa went on to describe the bullying, shaming and verbal abuse as "some of the most horrible things" she's ever "seen in print" in her life.

"And it's a reality show! It's a stupid show!" Lisa lamented. "I thought, 'It's time to go.' I'm not sure how much longer that can exist in the zeitgeist, to be honest with you."

However, Lisa's choice to leave the series wasn't an easy one. In fact, Lisa confessed she had doubts about whether she was making the right decision -- until she claimed to have received some divine intervention and guidance.

The former Dancing with the Stars contestant told the magazine that her late mother Lois -- who died in November 2021 at the age of 93 -- came to her in her sleep.

"It's so wild, because half the world will believe this, half the world will say: 'That's so weird.' I was sleeping and I heard her say to me: 'It's time for you to go,'" Lisa recalled.

Lisa said a psychic then confirmed her vision, which essentially put the nail in her The Real Housewives coffin.

"I told a psychic and she said, 'Oh yeah, she's come to me and told me that. She wants you to be happy and follow your dream, but she says it's time for you to go.' I've never told anybody that, except for the psychic," Lisa explained.

"I'm guided by my mom, for sure," she added.

Lisa reiterated how she believes everyone "knew it was time" for her to go.

"Eight years of that kind of show... What more could I have done, besides generate more memes?" Lisa questioned.

As for what's next for the former Days of Our Lives star, Lisa shared, "I have two acting gigs coming, which is really exciting. I can't tell you what they are yet because they haven't been announced."

Lisa teased her roles will be in both movies and television.

"Acting is where I began, so my love is always there. When you take time off, people start to only see you one way, so this is a dream come true," Lisa noted.

Lisa said she begins her next job on June 7, which is her mother's birthday.

"She's been such a guardian angel throughout this whole process," Lisa said with a smile. "So to start the job on her birthday is lovely."

When Lisa announced she was done with The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills earlier this year, she told People, "This is the longest job I have held in my 35-year career and I am grateful to everyone at Bravo and all those involved in the series. It has been a fun eight-year run and I am excited for what is to come!"

At the time, Lisa suggested the grief she was experiencing over the loss of her mother was too much to bear.

"I have had a really rough time of it I think you've seen how hard this has hit me," Lisa wrote to her followers on Instagram at the time. "I'm sorry if I've raged on you, about you -- it really has nothing to do with any of you."

Lisa's The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills contract expired at the end of last season. She had joined the series back in 2014 for Season 5 and made her last appearance on Season 12, which aired from May through October 2022.

Bravo executive and Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen host Andy Cohen addressed Lisa's absence earlier this year and admitted he hoped her time away from the show would be a "pause" and she'd "come back" eventually.

Andy called Lisa "compelling" television, adding, "Think of all the memes that Lisa Rinna has generated. Think of all the gifs she's generated. I remember when [Diane Von Furstenberg] came out with a book, and I think she called it Own It. And... I was like telling DVF, I was like, 'That's Lisa Rinna's thing.'"
