Simon is blaming Tamra for the couple's divorce.
"[Tamra] has been verbally abusive and has committed acts of disloyalty and infidelity," he alleges in the divorce filing, which he appears to have filed without an attorney and was obtained by Radar Online.
"The papers speak for themselves," he told Radar Online while confirming the filing, which says the couple has irreconcilable differences and separated on January 3.
Tamra is denying Simon's allegations.
"Thanks to everyone who understands and supports me," she wrote in a Friday morning Facebook posting. "For the record, all accusations are false."
According to the posting, Tamra will tell "my side of the story" during an appearance on next Thursday's broadcast of Bravo's Watch What Happens: Live midnight talk show.
Tamra had moved out of the couple's home and into a two-bedroom apartment earlier this week but did not know Simon was filing for divorce, according to Radar Online.
"Simon has simply had enough," a source told Radar Online. "The show changed her."
The couple has three children -- 11-year-old and 4-year-old daughters and a 9-year-old son.
Tamra and Simon's marital problems have a regular feature of The Real Housewives of Orange County's currently-airing season, which has shown the couple feuding about financial problems, Simon's refusal to let Tamra re-enter the workforce as a real estate agent, and her relationship with fellow Housewives star Vicki Gunvalson -- whom Simon has blamed for "changing" his wife.
Thursday night's The Real Housewives of Orange County broadcast had ended with Tamra expressing doubt about her marriage's future while having lunch with her mother Sandy.

"There's so much built up resentment and I don't know what to do... I just don't think that I'm the person that he wants me to be," she said in the episode's closing scene. "He treats me like he doesn't trust me. He treats me like I'm property and he treats me like he hates me. I don't want someone telling me I'm doing something wrong 24 hours a day."
"He wants a housewife and you're just not a housewife," her mother replied.
"If it was just me and him I would leave, there's no question," Tamra said. "[But] the last thing I want to do is be a 42-year-old with three kids, living in a condo trying to take care of myself and my kids but I don't know if I have any more fight in me."
"Well you can't go on this way and the kids can't go on this way so you either have to make it better or go your own way," Sandy replied.
