Socialite Paris Hilton was charged in Los Angeles Tuesday with driving under the influence and with a blood-alcohol level of .08 or higher.
The two misdemeanor charges stem from Hilton's Sept. 7 arrest after she was stopped for "driving erratically" and found to have a blood alcohol level of .08 -- the minimum for a DUI arrest under California law.
Hilton later told radio host Ryan Seacrest she had not eaten all day, had one drink that evening and was probably "speeding a little bit" in her haste to get to a fast-food restaurant.
Hilton, 25, faces a maximum six months in jail and a $1,000 fine if convicted, but an expert told People she would most likely be fined, ordered to attend DUI classes and put on probation for three years.
