In a quiet scheduling change that somehow got lost in the current flood of summer reality programming, sometime in the last few weeks VH1 announced that it has moved the premiere of The Surreal Life 5 -- previously scheduled to debut in September -- up a couple of months and will instead premiere the series on Sunday, July 10 at 9PM ET/PT.

As previously reported, topping The Surreal Life 5's cast will be two faces already familiar to most reality show viewers -- original The Apprentice villainess Omarosa Manigault-Stallworth and America's Next Top Model judge Janice Dickinson, the bitchy self-professed "world's first supermodel" who sparked a PR war with fellow reality TV personality Ryan Seacrest following a censored live appearance on the American Idol host's syndicated daytime talk show.
Also likely to be familiar to viewers is the face of Jose Canseco, the one-time superstar baseball slugger who recently appeared on newcasts around the country due to the publication of his Juiced : Wild Times, Rampant 'Roids, Smash Hits, and How Baseball Got Big steroids exposé book that resulted in his appearance at congressional hearings investigating Major League Baseball's drug testing policies.
Rounding out the cast will be four less controversial celebrities -- Salt-n-Pepa hip-hop group member Sandi "Pepa" Denton, motorcross madman Carey Hart, British model Caprice, and Bronson Pinchot, the actor best known for his role as Balki Bartokomous in ABC's late 80's Perfect Strangers sitcom.
Yesterday, VH1 exclusively premiered The Surreal Life 5's debut episode on VSPOT, its new broadband entertainment network that is accessible via VH1.com.
Gary Busey, Jackee Harry (227), Willie Aames (Eight is Enough), Tocarra Jones (America's Next Top Model), Phil Margera (Viva La Bam), Jani Lane (lead singer of rock group Warrant), Victoria Jackson (Saturday Night Live) and returning Fit Club 1 participant Wendy Kaufman ("The Snapple Lady") will be the eight so-called "celebrities" competing to lose weight on Celebrity Fit Club 2.
