The Voice viewers are going to have a bigger voice than just determining each week's bottom three artists via their votes.

NBC has announced The Voice's fifth season will feature a brand new "Instant Save" twist that will allow home viewers to determine which member of each week's bottom three vote-getters will be saved from elimination during the competition's next four result shows.
Beginning with this week's Top 12 results show, America will have the opportunity to choose which bottom-three artist will be saved by tweeting votes for the artist they wish to save. The remaining two bottom-three artists -- who were already in the bottom threesome based on the results of viewer votes cast following The Voice's Monday night performance show -- will then be eliminated.
"We are literally putting the power in the hands of our viewers, granting them a direct way to affect the fate of the artists competing during the live telecast," NBC reality chief Paul Telegdy said.
The reality singing competition will debut the "Instant Save" on Tuesday, November 12. Home viewers will have five minutes to tweet whom they believe should be saved, and the tweets will tallied in real-time, allowing for the final results to be revealed live at the end of each broadcast. To utilize the "Instant Save," viewers must log onto Twitter and tweet out #VoiceSave along with the artist's name.

"When the bottom three are identified, fans will have five minutes to save their favorites via Twitter, ensuring our strongest performers remain," Telegdy explained. "This invaluable partnership with Twitter exemplifies our efforts to have social media play a huge part in the structure of the show."
In prior seasons, The Voice coaches were able to save an artist from elimination each week once host Carson Daly announced the bottom-three artists.
The "Instant Save" will be utilized during the November 12, 19, and 26 broadcasts in addition to The Voice's December 3rd show. The Voice will crown its fifth-season champion two weeks later on December 17.
"Viewers in the Eastern and Central time zones will be able to watch and tweet during the live show. Viewers in the West and Mountain time zones will also be able tweet their choice at the same time as the Eastern and Central time zones if they are following the @nbcthevoice handle, which will announce that the save period is open and what artists are eligible," according to NBC.
Telescope, the same technology company that authenticates the voting results for The Voice's performance shows, will tally the tweets during each results show.
