The Voice producers welcomed Miley Cyrus as a new coach this season knowing she's unpredictable and unconventional, so what was it like for contestant Courtnie Ramirez to join her team?

Courtnie, a 17-year-old aspiring singer from Bryan, TX, belted out Jessie J's "Mama Knows Best" on The Voice's Season 11 premiere Monday night on NBC.

Courtnie's Blind Audition sparked interest from the show's newest coaches, Miley and Alicia Keys, who pressed their buttons for the young artist and fought for her. Miley connected with Courtnie's "rocker vibe" and stage presence, so the artist ultimately decided to join her team.

"So, when I first met her, I just saw joy, and her energy was just -- she was very enthusiastic and so excited to be on the show," Courtnie told reporters of Miley during a Tuesday conference call.

"And I think that's what really drew me to her team. Her personality, you can see it when she smiles."

Courtnie also provided fans with a little bit of insight into what it's like working with Miley.

"Miley is just such a great person, like, I never would have thought that I would meet Miley, but Miley is amazing," Courtnie gushed. "It's a true honor for her to be my coach, so she's amazing. She's great."

Ali Caldwell, a 28-year-old from Woodbridge, NJ, also selected Miley as her coach last night after all four chairs turned around for her. Ali expressed she chose Miley as a way to honor her mother's advice: "Dare to be different."
