The Voice coaches Shakira and Adam Levine each determined the three team members who will represent them in the Top 12 live shows.

All five of Shakira's team members and all five of Adam's team members performed during Monday night's broadcast of the "Playoffs" round in attempt to earn one of three spots on either "Team Shakira" or "Team Adam" in the finals. Because both coaches could only advance three artists to the live shows, they each had to eliminate two singers along the way.
Shakira chose to advance Tess Boyer, Kristen Merlin and Dani Moz. As a result, the Latina star eliminated Patrick Thomson and Deja Hall from her team. Tess was Shakira's most obvious choice.
Adam picked Christina Grimmie, Delvin Choice and Kat Perkins to move forward with him to live shows. He therefore sent home Jake Barker and Morgan Wallen. Christina was the team member Adam was most excited about.
During last night's episode, the three women whom Shakira selected to stick with her delivered incredible, standout performances. She acknowledged her team had absolutely killed it, and fellow coaches Adam, Usher and Blake Shelton couldn't argue the fact.

Tess performed "Human," and Adam had been the only coach not to work with her so far this season as a result of the show's "steal" format.
Adam was worried about feeling like "a ding dong" if Tess ends up making it far in this competition, and he called Usher and Blake "total morons" for letting Tess go to begin with in the "battle" rounds. Blake admitted Tess is one of the best singers in the competition, while Usher acknowledged she's "superhuman." Shakira was amazed at her team member's "amazing gift."
Kristen sang "Two Black Cadillacs." Adam called her "the real deal" and one of the best artists this season. Blake said "shame on me" for not turning his chair around during the initial "blind" auditions phase. Usher agreed she has one of the strongest voices on the show.
Dani performed "The Edge of Glory" on the piano and also received raving reviews. Adam told Shakira she'd be "looney" not to take Dani with her to live shows, and Usher and Blake agreed she's "unbelievable." Blake told her it felt like the song was one of her own.
As for Shakira's former team members, Deja sang "Battlefield" and Patrick performed "Trouble."

Two singers also blew the coaches and audience away from Adam's team. Once again, they were females with powerful voices.
Kat sang "Open Arms" and Usher said she's "phenomenal and flawless." Shakira noted Kat is "devoted and committed." Blake -- although it was painful to compliment his rival Adam -- said he couldn't criticize the performance even if he tried. Adam believed it was the best performance of the entire competition thus far.
Christina performed "I Won't Give Up." Blake was shocked such a "big voice" came out of a "miniature person." Blake noted the young artist's performance was "powerful" yet "tender" at the same time. Usher called her "a ball of fire," similar to a "Baby Celine Dion." Adam rambled about Christina's vocal talent and made it clear she was his favorite singer.
Also from Adam's team, Delvin performed "Let's Stay Together."
Former team member Jake took the stage with a rendition of "She Will Be Loved," while former "Team Adam" member Morgan sang "Stay."
