The Voice made a huge cut in the semifinals round to determine the twelfth season's Top 4 finalists during Tuesday night's live results broadcast on NBC.

Chris, Lauren and Aliyah received the most amount of votes following Monday night's Top 8 performance show, and so they automatically advanced to the finale. Chris represents Alicia Keys' team, while both Lauren and Aliyah are members of Blake Shelton's team.
The two contestants who received the fewest amount of home viewer votes and were therefore immediately sent home without a chance to sing for the "Instant Save" were "Team Alicia" member Vanessa Ferguson, a 31-year-old from Greensboro, NC, and "Team Blake" member Terry "TSoul" Pinkard, a 29-year-old from Richmond, VA.
After The Voice host Carson Daly revealed the three top and the two bottom vote-getting artists, the remaining three singers had to duke it out for the "Instant Save."
In addition to Adam Levine's only team member left, Jesse, the other two artists who got a second chance to sing again were Gwen Stefani's team members Hunter Plake, a 20-year-old from Baton Rouge, LA, and Brennley Brown, a 15-year-old from Apple Valley, CA.
This marked Hunter, Brennley and Jesse's first time in the bottom based on voting totals.
America ultimately tweeted via the show's "Instant Save" format to keep Jesse in the competition. In all 12 seasons of The Voice, Jesse will be the first one-chair turn -- referring to his lack of interest from the coaches in "The Blind Auditions" round -- to compete in the finale.
Kicking off the elimination format was Brennley, who performed "Warrior" as her survival song.
Gwen was crying, saying Brennley is so emotional, gifted and in touch with herself, her heart and her music at only 15-years-old. Gwen begged America to give Brennley another chance because she's so talented.
Hunter then sang "Love Runs Out" in the hope of being saved.
Gwen gushed to home viewers about how Hunter is ready to make an album and everyone would want to buy it. Gwen said Hunter is always present onstage and his vocal ability is "mind blowing." She explained how his voice is beautiful and tender yet powerful at the same time, a gift she called "rare." Gwen told America that Hunter is "unique" in every way.
Jesse then took the stage with "Tennessee Whiskey."

Adam explained how Jesse is first and foremost a guitar player whose wife pushed him to audition for The Voice. Adam said most artists in this competition have been singing their whole lives, but Jesse became one of the best and most genuine performers on The Voice within a matter of weeks. Adam called Jesse's progress "staggering" and said he deserves to be in the finale.
Home viewers then had a short five-minute window to vote for Jesse, Brennley or Hunter to stay on The Voice. At the end of the episode's final commercial break, the vote was Jesse 48 percent, Hunter 31 percent, and Brennley 21 percent.
Prior to Carson announcing their eliminations, Brennley thanked Gwen for encouraging her to be herself and sing from her heart every week while Hunter thanked Gwen for opening him up and inspiring him to never be ashamed of who he is. Hunter told Gwen that she's "an incredible person to look up to" both professionally and personally.
Jesse had also thanked Adam for giving him a whole new outlook on himself and turning him into a different, better person before he was revealed as the winner of the save.
After Monday night's performance show, four artists and one duet hit the Top 10 on the iTunes Singles Chart. All of the songs performed during that episode made the Top 100.
Next week, Chris, Lauren, Aliyah and Jesse will compete to be crowned the winner of The Voice and walk away with a recording contract.
