The Voice narrowed down the Top 20 field of artists to only 12 survivors during Monday night's broadcast of Season 11's "The Live Playoffs" on NBC.

Twenty Playoff performances were jam-packed into last night's episode due to upcoming election coverage on all broadcast networks. The Voice episode featured real-time voting and real-time results for the first time in show history.

Coaches Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Miley Cyrus and Alicia Keys each began the night with five members on their team. America voted live to save two artists on each team, whose coach must then choose one of the three remaining artists to advance to next week's live shows, eliminating the other two hopefuls.

The eight artists whom America voted through to the Top 12 were Team Alicia's Christian Cuevas from Orlando, FL, and We McDonald from Paterson, NJ; Team Miley's Ali Caldwell from Woodbridge, NJ, and Aaron Gibson from Atlanta, GA; Team Adam's Billy Gilman from Westerly, RI, and Josh Gallagher from Johnstown, PA; and finally Team Blake's Sundance Head from Houston, TX, and Austin Allsup from Fort Worth, TX.

After America's vote, Alicia decided to save Sa'Rayah from Chicago, IL, from the bottom three, saying that God can be felt in the room when she performs. Alicia therefore eliminated Kylie Rothfield from Danville, CA, and Josh Halverson from Willmar, MN, from the competition.

Miley opted to save Darby Walker from Atlanta, GA, when she was in jeopardy next to Sophia Urista from Detroit, MI, and Belle Jewel Lyon from American Fork, UT. Miley called Darby her "mini-me" and seemed to pick the girl because they have a strong bond, especially when it comes to fashion.

Once Billy and Josh G. made it through to the live shows via America's vote, Adam decided to keep Brendan Fletcher from Randolph, NJ, on his team going forward because his earthy, raspy voice is special and doesn't "need the frills" of typical Voice contestants to make a statement.

As a result, Adam sent Simone Gundy from Forth Worth, TX, home as well as one of his favorites this season, young crooner Riley Elmore from West Dundee, IL.

Blake had a tough decision to make between Dana Harper from Dallas, TX; Courtney Harrell from Boston, MA; and Jason Warrior from Chicago, IL. The coach opted to save Courtney out of the three because she's incredibly talented and wowed with her performance last night. Dana and Jason were therefore sent home.

In a night of stand-out performances, Billy -- a former child country star -- seemed to take the cake, as both Blake and Adam agreed his placement in the Top 12 was an "absolute no-brainer" and his voice is out of this world. Sundance and Ali also appear to be fan-favorites.

Next week begins the regular Top 12 live shows and all of the contestants will be mentored and guided by Garth Brooks.
