The Voice drastically cut its Season 20 competition from 17 contestants to only nine artists during Tuesday night's results show on NBC.

The nine artists who survived elimination during Tuesday night's one-hour broadcast will advance to The Voice's live semifinals show next week on NBC.

Of the Top 17 artists that performed on Monday night, the top votegetter on each team automatically advanced to the next round during Tuesday night's results show.

The four artists who received the most home viewer votes and won automatic spots in the Top 9 were Cam Anthony, a 19-year-old singer from Pennsylvania who currently resides in Los Angeles, CA, from Blake Shelton's team; Rachel Mack, a 15-year-old high school student from Romeo, MI, from Nick Jonas' team; Victor Solomon, a 22-year-old college student from Illinois who currently resides in Greensboro, NC, from John Legend's team; and Kenzie Wheeler, a 22-year-old grocery-store employee from Dover, FL, from Kelly Clarkson's team.

The Voice coaches Kelly, John, Nick, and Blake were then tasked with basically picking a favorite and saving one artist out of the remaining three members on his or her team.

Nick, however, had to choose amongst four artists since Devan Blake Jones, a 35-year-old client relations manager who currently resides in Denver, CO, was voted into the Top 17 after winning his four-way Knockout.

Blake chose to save Jordan Matthew Young, a 34-year-old guitar repairman and house builder from Utah who currently resides in Austin, TX, and Nick selected Dana Monique, a 41-year-old cruise ship headliner from Houston, TX.

John opted to save Pia Renee, a 37-year-old commercial voiceover actor who currently resides in Villa Park, IL, and Kelly chose to advance Gihanna Zoe, a 17-year-old college student from Riverside, CA.

One of the two remaining artists -- or three, in the case of Nick's group -- from each team subsequently received the chance to perform live and compete for the "Wild Card" spot in the competition.

The person from each team chosen to sing was based on which artist had received more home-viewer votes during Monday night's two-hour Top 17 performance show.

Representing "Team Blake," Pete Mroz, a 45-year-old traveling sales manager from Tennessee who currently resides in Phoenix, AZ, was afforded the chance to sing for the "Instant Save" as one of the Wild Card picks.

Monday-night votes for Pete ultimately eliminated Anna Grace, a 20-year-old singer and songwriter who currently resides in Wauwatosa, WI, from the competition.

"Team Nick" artist Jose Figueroa Jr., a 34-year-old performer and Zumba instructor from New York who currently resides in Kissimmee, FL, got to sing for the "Instant Save," which eliminated Devan as well as Andrew Marshall, a 21-year-old college student and musician from Boxford, MA, from the running.

On behalf of "Team Legend," America preferred Ryleigh Modig, an 18-year-old singer from Spencer, MA, over Zania Alake, a 34-year-old banker from Detroit, MI. Zania was therefore ousted from Season 20 of The Voice.

The Wild Card pick for "Team Kelly" was Corey Ward, a 34-year-old singer from South Carolina who currently resides in McDonough, GA, which resulted in Zae Romeo, a 21-year-old music and art teacher who currently resides in Woodlands, TX, getting sent home.

The performance portion of the live results show kicked off with Pete from Blake's team singing "Speechless" by Dan + Shay.

Jose then took the stage with "Superstition" by Steve Wonder as a member of Nick's team.

Also fighting for a "Wild Card" spot, Corey serenaded the audience with "Lose You to Love Me" by Selena Gomez with Kelly smiling big from her chair.

And finally, "Team Legend" singer Ryleigh belted out "It Will Rain" by Bruno Mars, hoping to secure the final spot in the Top 9 artists.

The power then switched over to home viewers, who were able to vote for the best Wild Card performance of the night.

America was given a five-minute window in real time to vote on The Voice app or NBC.com for their favorite act of the four, and by the end of the commercial break, The Voice host Carson Daly announced Corey had been instantly saved as the Wild Card artist.

Pete, Jose and Ryleigh were ousted from The Voice's twentieth season as a result.
